Curve LineProperties/linetypes
It would be great if a curve object could have some LineProperties options regarding the display type of the curves line (with (3d) and without (2d) depth/extrusion) keeping the actual underlying curve intact:
- Solid (default)
- Dashed, including some dash caps (None, Square, Round)
- Dotted
- Dashed-dotted
- Dash-dot-dot
- User-specified dash pattern
- (Arrows)
A quick example from a text editing software, as those styles are international standards for linetypes:
This would make curve designs much easier, as you don't have to create complex shaders, error prone curve follow arrays, etc. For example seams, beams, visual effects and stylistic curve animations, etc.
A partial proposal regarding dash patterns has been already made a few years back: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/NFfbbc/
Edit
: I've slapped together some shaders and geo nodes to achieve the linetype effect, still would be useful if sthis would get supported natively:

you can use geometry nodes to do such things. However if blender make some developement towards curve for such functionality then it would be much helpful for documentation of architectural and other works. in the meantime you can use inkscape and then import as svg in blender.
yeah, i know. Using geo nodes is the better (or at least more modern way) of the curved array modifier trick. Unfortunately it's always a hastle to setup and debug and is blender intern only (export is not really possible, at least not without converting the whole thing into a single mesh.
The import/export part is my main pain point here...having a property dashed/dotted on a curve is universally more applicable than having a wonky geo nodes or texture setup.
