Square brushes in Paint Mode
For those who are familiar with cel-shading techniques and are following the tradicional recipe, making squary UV islands in UV Editor is a tedious and yet necessary step. It would be great to have a square brush, or even better: a tool that draws color throught basic 2D shapes. Take a look at this example video and see how time consuming would be if you'd have even more colors and/or objects: youtube.com/watch

Is 'doable' but not user friendly. Having a shapes pick and drag through the canvas would be much faster and intuitive.
* @gsfinardi * Having any degree of brush control would be an improvement :P Pablo Dobarro has been working on improving the brush features and unifying them, but I don't think the patch he made has been updated in a few weeks.
I think there's a lot of need for improvement in brush UI/UX and flexibility. I wonder if it's possible to leverage other open source softwares, like MyPaint or KRITA? Anyways, I think Blender needs pre-sets and individually adjustable control curves and a lot of other features before brushes will be good enough.
* @Craig Jones * Have you seen the new MyPaint 2.0? They use a cool Spectral Blending method that converts the RGB color into a 30-component color matrix and back for blending. Not really sure how the math works, but I'm eventually going to try and make a node-group for doing that with NPR shaders.
It's already possible with square texture masks, but that's a bit tedious.
Yes, square brush is doable now
