Artistic control over lensblur / "blur collections" offset /blur per collection

what the title says. for the various styles you can create in blender a lensblur which just trys to emulate a realworld or videogame like lensblur is a bit limiting ..

would be nice if we could feed collections into the blurshader with an artificial offset or even better just a blur value (the first one is easier to program probably).

for cartoons , different scene scales and artistic blurring itd be much easier,

in almost any scene i had to accommodate my objects to the lensblur and not the other way around , coming up with hacks like moving and scaling them into wrong places and stuff.

In the end i rather rendered the background forground seperatly and simulated the blur in post with a simple gausian blur .. but that uses alot of production overhead of course

itd be better if we could just dial in the blur on a background collection or whatever.

p.s.: this would be equally awesome for directional blur or motionblur of course

Everything you describe is a post process step. There are plans to make the compositor apply to the 3d viewport in real time so you'll be able to setup masks based on objects in a collection and use that to separate the areas of the image you want blurred.

thats what i did but ok i should have stated that specifically for eevee as it applies it's camera blur shader on the gpu in the view port already and it would be a nice shortcut
