Local Mode without camera movement

I use the Local Mode (/ key) all the time, but I'm frustrated because I want to go back and forth but the camera adjust itself automatically. I would like the same "Local Mode" without this "useless" camera movement.

One up vote, here's a case where it works, a counter argument to all the comments so far:

While doing retopology I want to hide the rest of objects, but I'm in edit mode so shift+H wouldn't work. I'd have to go out to object mode first, then shift+H and then go back in, but what I really want is to be able to go back and forth quickly so doing it with one button press without the camera pulling out would be great! A good addition to the other retopo visibility tools, like hidden wire and the Draw Xray addon that I bought on Gumroad.

If you think about it, there's little reason as to why the camera should pull out in edit mode, after all, Local view affects the selected object, and you are already working on the object you have selected, presumably close to it.

Adding to the proposal, the option should be toggleable in the preference interface settings, with two toggle boxes, one for edit mode and one for object mode, and let the user decide.

"Local view camera focus:

☒ Focus on object in Object mode

☐ Focus on object in Edit mode"

Omg yes, I hate the huge movement it makes. Having to recenter things is awful, specially in camera mode.

i would appreciate that in local mode youd actually have the object aligned to 000, or maybe if it was an option, because it would make some tasks so much easier :D

I actually use the camera movement when popping out of local mode. It's a great way to spot-check your model. You can go into local mode, make changes from any angle you want, and when you pop back out, you're right back at your reference view. Sure, you can do that with a separate 3D View, but if you want to work in just one window/editor, the movement in and out of local view is actually pretty helpful.
