Change the default start frame from one to zero in the VSE
Currently the default start frame number in the VSE is set to one. In standard timecode the first frame is zero. The sequencer also starts at frame zero. It would be logical to change the default start frame value to zero and the default end frame to 249.

Currently, when a 25fps clip is added at the default start frame (1), the first second of the footage will comprise of 24 frames (1 thru 24), while all subsequent seconds of footage will comprise of 25 frames (0 thru 24). This is unnecessarily confusing and simply avoided by setting the default start frame to zero.
Jumping to previous frame and jumping to previous keyframe (left arrow and down arrow respectively) bring you to frame zero ultimately. This is inconsistent with the default start frame being one (1). The user interface is based on a zero start frame, the default value is one. This confusing inconsistency is easily corrected by changing the default start frame value to zero.
It's not difficult to set the start frame yourself. Since there's not really a clear default that's the same across all applications, it's probably fine as-is, IMHO.
Also, it's worth understanding that frame numbers in Blender are inclusive. Time runs to the end of a frame, not the beginning of it.
Maya, Houdini, and Animate start at 1. Max, Cinema 4d, After Effects, Character Animator, and games engines start at 0.
