Stop blend files from changing my layout.

Ok. Two months into working with Blender and I have to say that the most frustrating element of learning it is that .blend files can change my layout without any choice whatsoever to prevent it. I really would like a feature that prevents individual blend files from changing my layout. I spent a lot of time setting my layout the way I want only to have it wrecked every time I try to open a file --I get their idea of what a layout should be and that should not happen --or at least we should be able to tick a checkmark that locks our layout so that a blend file can't change it without permission. It took me ten minutes to write this paragraph because I had to keep editing the cuss words my frustration demands that I use.
