Solidify Modifier with a curve as profile for the rim
It would be handy to be able to set the number of subdivisions on the rim of a solidify modifier as well as define a curve profile for it.
It would be ideal for quickly creating trims around surfaces like panels, tables, or the like.
Combining Solidify and Bevel does not yield the same result, as the bevel will operate on the edges (and its orientation alters per edge) rather than the rim surface.

How solidify with curve profile is different from just solidify + bevel with curve profile?
Are there any settings missing?
The profile should be applied once for the entire rim of the solidify basically.
When I try to combine solidify and bevel like you suggest, the lower edge receives a bevel with the same profile as well. I also tried with the generated vertex groups from the Solidify, but I can't seem to just get the profile along the rim.

I think I used "only rim" option in solidify mod so there was no bottom faces and thus no bevel on bottom...
Bevel takes from the original geometry. While shaping the rim would leave the original size of the island and add the necessary shape only to the edge.
+1 to the subdivisions
