A managing system (like, with folders) in the Vertex Groups Panel

Currently, it is quite inefficient to navigate in the Vertex Groups Panel of a mesh Object in my experience —in my case, I've being doing 3D Character Rigging in Blender.

The Vertex Groups Panel list sometimes may be large and confusing… (lots of Vertex Groups may be generated from Weight Paint for example), and this unidimensional and linear listing also difficults management since not all the Vertex Groups on a mesh Object may have the same priority relevance or functionality. Also, manually reordering them can be very tedious, since currently one can only move 1 by 1 —no drag and drop move, no multiple Vertex Groups selection. I have been doing my best in order to stay organized with my Vertex Groups lists on each mesh Object: All my Bones start with "BON_…" so that their Weight Paint Vertex Groups would be distinct from the other Vertex Groups I creat for other functionalities such as Modifiers, Physics (e.g.,"VXG_Solid_…", "VXG_Pin_…")… but still then, it's been quite frustrating without better management tools of those huge lists.

As far as I know, the order of the Vertex Groups Panel list has no direct implication on a Vertex Groups functionality (differently from the order of Modifiers or Bone Constraints lists), so, wouldn't it be great if we had better tools for managing and reorganizing the Vertex Groups Panel list?

Currently, I can only think about a folder system; it would be of great help. Thanks.

We really do need folders for basically everything. In my current project I have a very advanced character with many shrinkwraps and smoothing modifiers. Obviously there are a ton of different kind of vertex groups too. Having ability to group them, locking, hiding them with one click, this just feels like something that should be there. Overall UI still needs some improvements. We can't even drag vertex groups on the list. Having to press up/down arrow buttons is UX from 20 years ago. Edit: It would be especially nice, since Blender for some reasons recalculates all the modifiers every time you do anything. Meaning, if I want to move vertex groups by clicking the arrows, each click takes almost a second unless I disable all the modifiers. Which I also have to do one by one. We should really be able to not only group, but also select multiple vertex groups and move them on the list, same with modifiers. I don't think actions like moving vertex groups on the list should recalculate all the modifiers in the first place, but that's outside of the scope of this suggestion.
