Vision for Blender (prototype/mockup proposal)
Hello guys. I would like to propose a vision for blender. The features are mainly focused on 3d modelling, uv mapping, materials and texturing. What do you guys think of these things individually?
These are the following:
- Viewport local window tab system
- Asset manager (Similar to UE4 and Substance Painter)
- Classic Layers UI (Similar to Quixel and Substance Painter)
- More utilization of drag and drop functionalities
Mockup 1: With compressed tabs
Mockup 2: With conventional tabs
In my own opinion Blender's current layers UI is a little bit small and crammed especially if a large number of textures are being used. Substance Painter also has a specific panel for dragging and dropping texture assets from the asset manager under the layers panel. This can be useful for those quick and basic texture painting.
I believe blender already have these in their future plans. Maybe this kind of mockups can add some additional inspirations or ideas to the respective developers inside the team.
Thanks.
Some images are from substance painter.

hey dude, this is not a proposal but many proposals in one. And many things are either here on rightclickselect or in development f.e. asset manager.
Are you a UI designer or a programmer?
If it's just about the feedback go to devtalk and search for the specific tasks: devtalk.blender.org/t/asset-manager-proposal/7222
If it's something completely new, please make a proposal for each fuction. I really like your images but please make it easier for devs so they can work with your feedback!
* @momotron2000 * I get what you mean. The main reason I posted this mockup is for other people to see what I have been pushing through as a whole. Some might not see the vision I am going to whenever I post a specific feature.
This one is just to create an idea that this is the goal. Also this can make other users more aware about this kind of UI arrangement/setup.
