Add modifiers directly from 3d view based on selection and right click menu
Add an option in right click menu where user can add modifiers based on current selection. That also creates vertes groups from selections and adds necessary objects for the modifier to be functional. Modifier is created using normal tools inside blender but finishing the tool converts the operation into modifier and original shape remains largely intact.
For example I want to add a bevel modifier to 3 verts of my cube. I select those 3 verts, right click, pick an option under modifiers>bevel. This gives you the blender bevel tool. You adjust it like you would do normally. Change to vertice mode, scroll mouse wheel to add loops etc.. Then you finish the tool and the bevel operation gets added as modifier, the vertex group required for it gets created automatically, named descriptively (bevel_modifier for example) and that names matches to the modifier name. Done.
Want to add a boolean cube to make a hole in your object. In edit mode just right click and select modifiers>boolean>cube. That creates a bool modifier for you with the cube. You get asked whether you want a difference, union or intersect and the cube is then set to work with that option. Difference is drawn in wireframe mode, union matches your current object abd so forth. And it is named so you know it is used as boolean cube (for example face.001_boolean_cube). Reduce clicks by automating stuff that you are having to do all the time. Then you can simply edit the cube to get your boolean operation.
Same with mirror, mask and all other modifiers. And when the modifier is added this way all the required helper objects are created automatically as well. Selection is made into a vertex group and/or vertex color, boolean objects are created if not selected, hook empties are created. Use 3d cursor to place these objects. Use default blender tools to set up the modifier and when the tool is finished, convert the operation into modifier.
