How about supporting inputting other languages besides the language setting in Blender Preference?

I fond that inputing language is being limited to the chosen language in Blender Preference->Interface->Translation. (Sorry for me not figuring out how to upload some pics for interpretation,I'm going to describe by words...)

I tested some of the compatibility among English,Spanish,Japanese and Simplified Chinese.

Currently if you set "Translation" language to English/Spanish,you are not able to input Chinese/Japanese manually. But it's able to type in all of them when the language is set to Chinese or Japanese. However no matter what Tanslatsion setting is chosen,it is able to paste in Chinese& Japanses. So why being strict in manually input?

It would be a somewhat boost if we can input whatever language we want?Such like fancy word object combined with lots of diffrent languages and doing VEX on words. It would be even quicker to make VEXed captions.

I fond the issuse when I try subtitling video in blender and cross the drag-down.I'm familiar with the English terms in Blender so I used to use the English translation setting,so now my alternative way which achieving both having English interface and the ablity to type in Chinese is using Chinese Translation while unchecking all the translation opions.

I agree, looks like a bug to me.

I think some words have different meanings in different languages. For example, hi means greetings in English, but hai means yes in Japanese. I'm sure there are examples with identical spelling too.

* @qwertquart * Yes,my native language is Chinese and as I'm learning I do find many similarities among Chinese,Japanese and English in their spelling, though I'm not awared of which word has different meaning but in same spelling either.

But when it comes to computer input it doesn't matter whether words have different meanings. If you want to input a language differ from the script on your keyboard(though the most common keyboards nowadays should have Latin script on them,I guess?),it is done via "input method" softwares,or on Win10 they named it just "keyboard".Then when you tpye through your keyboard, those softwares will link your input to the language you desired to,then shows you a popover to let you chose the specified word you want.As example,Chinese, type in "nihao" then chose "你好" in the popover;Japanese, type in "konbanwa“ and you will have "こんばんわ" in the popover.

However what Blender locks is the software that converts your input into other language,as the proposal,if you set the "Translation" languange to English, the Chinese input method software will do no response to your input unless you switch the Blender's setting to Chinese/Japanese,while it's able to paste in other language characters from other places no matter what the Blender's setting is.
