2D Preview Procedural Textures Inside Nodes
Hi everyone, that would be great if we could see preview of textures inside nodes in 2D:
We could even get rid off some redundant words to create more space for the preview. Those words could appear when you hover over them (Vector, Color, Fac):
Node Wrangler's Ctrl+Shift+LMB function is not useful if you want to preview your texture in 2D, because most of the time your object is complex 3D mesh (It's great to preview in 3D though).
Similar functionality can be found in Substance Designer and other packages:
Similar proposal had been made 2 years ago without mockup: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/Rpbbbc/texture-preview-in-node-editor-in-node-it-self

This would be awesome!
I wish to see this applied to image texture nodes too
Yes, please !
Yes! This is very important! Even if it is manual update!
In worst case scenario if you really want to save space in nodes editor just add preview generated texture node so people could choose what they want to see and where.
I hope this is prioritize. This will save so much time as well remove the whole mental 'remembrance & guess/check' what does the settings will do.
Currently under development
Edit: Its Done Already merged into 4.0.
I had this idea of previewing it on the background, like in the compositor, but i like this idea better
Cool!!
I have created an addon that shows preview thumbnails for shader nodes: blendermarket.com/products/node-preview
