Add mouse focus to Default Keymap. Shortcut mappings sharing

Hi, everyone. I would like to add Mouse button 4 to focus on selection (Numpad Period) and mouse button 5 to show all (Home key) in all the windows (3D View, Node editor, Dope sheet, etc.) This would allow to move around in every window using only the mouse.

Since 2.80 is aiming for a minimalist keymap, a better tool to create new keymaps and share them is necessary (IMHO).

When testing this mouse keymaps I notices a few problems.

  • Though most windows have the same operation available (focus on selected), I had to add the same keymap for every window.
  • I use this keymap in 2.79 so I exported it to 2.80 to try it with the new minimalist approach. But the export feature of the keymap exports ALL the configuration of each windows that had any modification. So I ended overwriting the config in 2.80.

To overcome this I ended making this keymap as an addon. It won't overwrite any keymap (unless you use Mouse5 and Mouse4 for something else). And will remove the keymaps when you disable the addon.

I don't necessarily agree with the mouse shortcuts. but I definitely agree with this:

"Since 2.80 is aiming for a minimalist keymap, a better tool to create new keymaps and share them is necessary (IMHO)."

I don't mind the minimalistic keymap, but a better keyboard shortcut editor is needed. The current one is cumbersome and confusing. I would look at Adobe's latest keyboard shortcut editor in Premiere or After Effects for a good starting point

Not exactly sure what you're trying to achieve with the mouse buttons, if you're asking for those to be the defaults or your proposal is just about the keymap exporting/importing problem, but if you're interested in better shortcuts editing/mapping/etc you might want to check these two proposals if you haven't already: mine regarding all the shortcut problems (I have added this problem to the problems list) and this related one on having a visual shortcut editor .
