Eevee Glass Improvement
Current Eevee Glass is a bit complicated to set having to tick checkboxes situated in different tabs and the result is questionable anyway.
- Indipendently from the form an object has, only the surfaces facing the camera are visible, for example: a Glass viewed from a slightly down angle totally hides its own rim behind.
- Volume shaders are invisible when viewed through Glass either on the same object an on other ones.
- If refraction is activated reflection stops working so one has to choose between the two.
- Glass shadow acts as it was plain solid.
Please solve these 4 issues about Glass or develop a way to fake results.

You want stuff that isn't so present in a lot of real time engines nowadays... Volumetrics as they are in Eevee are already a godsend and probably the best I've seen, and I think they're worth the tradeoff.
But, to help your case, I recall seeing this paper a while ago on the blender artists forum: casual-effects.com/research/McGuire2017Transparency/McGuire2017Transparency.pdf It has a lot of cool stuff like refractions the way you want them, caustics, and no invisible transparent objects when looking through other transparent objects. Too bad I don't understand much of it.
However, it makes me wonder how close what's described in the paper is to general path tracing...
How would you propose that these things actually get solved? Have you seen it solved in other real time render engines?
@Jason van Gumster: I'm not a programmer, so I have no idea how to implement such a feature, anyway I have to take a look to light probes etc... Maybe they'll solve part of the problem. You want Eevee to be like or BETTER than other real time engines? 😜
* @Jason van Gumster * I've just added a paper which shows some interesting results in caustics.
* @Jason van Gumster * Today I've been playing with Glass again. What I think is that if it'd be possible to add refraction to backface refraction or self refraction it'd be a big step forward. In terms of coding I don't know how to achieve this this, but I don't think it is impossible, just wondering.
