I'd prefer that the whole menu become a single "Import" command, and you can choose whatever file you want. Then there could be a keyboard shortcut for Import.
I realize that the file dialog offers different functionality depending on what kind of file you're importing, but those options could appear once you highlight a file.

There are plans to improve it, but it never went anywhere... see: projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/68935
Not bad suggestion, but I disable most of those anyway. Still upvoting. :)
