make external files path readable before entire scene loading
actually, blender needs to fully open a scene to expose and load linked files / textures in. This is a major issue for mixed OS / renderfarms, as the manager can't replace the linked files paths. so we have to import all in the scene : lot of space / time / flexibility lost.
Using relative path is NOT a solution. This case is for work environment with an organised folder layout, so linked assets can be on a different SSD pool on network than the scene itself
Blender needs to declare those paths before scene loading, then the renderfarm manager can edit those path to match the right environment

How is this still an issue in/for Blender? I work alone, I don't need to interface with others, but these restrictions still impede my work pretty significantly. Currently this problem of filename character length, linking data and the limitations there, and the cross-problems they create, are some of my major hurdles in transitioning to Blender as a work platform from Maya.
i admit this is not the basic user feature priority, but for company / renderfarm, it's a must have
