Keyboard formatting on Blender.Community

Did you know, you can post keyboard shortcuts on this site?

By using double square brackets [[key]] , you can make Ctrl c and Ctrl v look cool.

But... It can be a bit slow when you have a shortcut made of multiple keys. Plus, modification keys are hard to recognize.

On Blender.Stackexchange.com , the community made themselves a userscript to have a keyboard shortcut that adds the markdown for you, and adds icons to common modification keys and mouse buttons.

I adapted it to make it work on Blender.Community , you can find it on Gist .

By using this script, select what you want to format and press ⎈ Ctrl y , and it's done.

Demos:

  • ⎈ Ctrl ⎇ Alt ⇧ Shift c
  • 🪟Win ↹ Tab
  • ⌘ Cmd x
  • ⌘ Super space
  • Right 🖱️

Installation:

Requires a userscript browser extension like Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey .

Clicking the raw button on the gist page should open an installation page if recognized by them (otherwise you can always copy the raw script and install it by hand, see your extension's manual).
