Do you know is there's a plan to implement mipmapping in both the renderers and the viewport? If you don't , can you ask the developers and come back to us next weeks please?
Thanks!

Hey Pablo! Now you probably already had countless questions when ACES is going to arrive, but mine has a twist, I promise: So I recently tried to add the ACES profiles manually to the blender color profiles and it worked as intended, however there was one considerable isue with the UI: When you have a list as huge as the ACES profiles can be, the UI does not adjust the window, to make selections futher down the list selectable (or even visible). It just extends beyond the screen (and mine is even 4K). Is there a way, that the UI can be adjusted to switch to a scrollabe list (like shader nodes search) when the window extends beyond a threshold. Sounds like a good task for a beginner developer, but unfortunatly I, for now, can't do it miself as I am still deep into learning the basics of python and C++. Kind regards, wish you an amazing evening!

Yeah, exactly, I know what you mean it's a known issue. Happens that blender devs hate ACES. I made the mistake of asking about ACES in devtalk. I don't recommend it at all. All "color" realted topics in devtalk are guarded by a very bad mannered guy that enjoys insulting people.
The issue looks like this:
ibb.co/KzXpTtT
and that's about half the profiles available or maybe less. No one knows for sure how long it is because no one has a monitor that large. You must remember the profile name and start typing it to be able to select it. I hope they fix it at some point.
I guess it's stuff for a bug report.
(One not so quick and yet dirty workaround people use is to edit the OCIO files to delete the profiles they don't need....)

Here, I managed to make a screenshot of the whole list by making Blender window span across two monitors :-)
It's HUGE, and it doesn't scroll.

Do you think there is a chance that the VSE editor might become compatible with the compositor??? Something like that would make my life so much easier! :)

Hi Pablo
I hope you are doing great. I just want to ask you about blender texturing workflow. i believe it is better compared to other 3d software but not as good as standalone texturing software (ex Substance and mari). is there any time soon we can expect major improvement in it.
some of the major feature i like to see in it is
•New implementation Of texture baking (old one is pretty rough)
•New Support texture baker for baking (ex :Ao, Curvature map, ) i knw it could be baked thr nodes but still a single click baker will be appealing.
•Layer based texturing and multi-channel texturing support like mari. where we can work on layers as well as nodes also.
•Smart masks (i need bunch of them :p)

Hi Pablo, how are you doing?
I've got a question regarding the Python API: Do you think exposing the Node Socket positions as READONLY to the Python API is a good idea/possible? Thanks for answering!

Hola Pablo!
Incredible round of updates this week, the devs are on fire!
No feature request and no question, I just want to use this space to give more visibility to this game-changing patch, hoping that the process of accepting it might go faster, 3.0 era is literally calling for this:
developer.blender.org/D7946
Thanks!

Hola Pablo, hope you are having a great day!
I would like your opinion about something.
When you open the preferences window, the window pops where the cursor is (you can see the behaviour better if you call the menu by pressing f4 and calling the preferences from there), but I think that would be better if the window could "remember" the last position where it was before getting close, so when you open it again, it would pop where it was and not under the cursor.
Cheers.

Hey Pablo, hope you’re doing well!
So exciting that Cycles X is finally in master! I downloaded it to try it out, and the improved adaptive sampling made a scene I tested start skyrocketing up to 10,000 samples within minutes (with a very humble Nvidia GTX 1060 and i5 processer) (and it wasn't because I was just letting it go on after reaching a totally noiseless render; there was still some noise to be ironed out from caustics and refractions, which previously may have taken a whole day to get rid of).
Is it too late to hope that some implementation of light linking might make it into 3.00? I know it could of course be added in a later version, but not having it kick off the start of the 3x series (along with all the other incredible stuff) feels like a missed opportunity. I'll still be happy, though, if light-linking comes later.
Thanks for the awesome show!

Hello Pablo a few quick questions (some of them from the last week):
I think it looks really nice and I would love to buy some stylish blender gear. The current wear is a bit... boring? ...Let's say it could be better.
Is there any place where such ideas are collected or maybe even voted on to see if the design could even be sold.
Last time you noticed the code quest badge. To be honest, I was just in for the shirt and the rocket-USB stick. That's a much nicer way to support blender with money in my opinion.
Regarding donations:
Was, is or will there be a focus on making donations to blender tax deductable? I think in my country there could be a sneaky way around a fuzzy 'not really', but it would be the in the line of 'education for adults' and you would need the ministry of finance to play along.
Is the discussion regarding blender versioning still alive?
In the past I heard some people write about the new versioning of blender and that they wish it would not advance with 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 etc.
To be honest, I also kinda like the idea that every LTS ends with something-point-3. So 3.03, 3.13, etc.
VSE talk
I'm interested in the VSE development. Is there any place where I can directly ask a developer?
In my opinion the VSE has some parts that are really great and some that are really terrible. I have seen the bad parts been done much better in other software, but I'm not sure if these parts of the VSE are even considered problamatic or if they are meant to be that way.
So I would like to poke a developer and see what they think about certain features.
Using Linux (not so serious question):
You said that you used a system with PopOS for the streams in the past. Wouldn't it be much better for these streams to run on a system with Ubuntu MATE while drinking mate? ^^
Thanks for the stream and have a great week!

Hi Pablo!
I heard in Blender 3.1 devs gonna focus on EEVEE again. Do you know if there any plans to make cavity node for EEVEE? I mean it's looking pretty good and work real time in viewport. I understand it's much harder then it sounds but people would love to use it to enhanse details on renders.

Hi Pablo,
Would it be possible to get custom bone displays options that access the other armature 'display as' bone types? Very specifically I'd like to make the bbones in my armature look like bbones, but not have an entirely boxy mess for everything else. I could also see setting deform bones to look like envelopes, and mech bones use the octahedral default. It would be fantastic for rig readability if everything didn't have to be a monolithic display type.
Thanks!

Hi Pablo, hope you're great!
I remember this question being asked here many times (get ready)
When will edge groups be implemented? I remember it was "promised" with geometry nodes. I was looking on dev talk and blender chat for an answer and got no answer, so I was wondering if you know?
Thank to you Pablo (and to the dev team) for your hard work with 171 livestreams!

Hi Pablo! Great Monday to you!
When working with multiple scenes, it's hard to quickly switch the scenes setting. Run a quick render preview by set render resolution, samples, bounces, file output, film setting etc and then jump to a final or even a mid level render preview requires a lot of click. there should be a quicker way to set all those options. Don't you think?
also about scenes, now when i duplicate a scene with the link scene option there is no way to unlink an object shared by the 2 scenes. The "make single user" command doesn't work anymore. What happened? :D
And last...if I have an object hide in "render" but visible in viewport, when I preview the render in viewport i see that object. In blender 2.79 there was a button to sync that state while rendering in the viewport to see the result just as it would come out when press f12. Will it come back?

Hi Pablo,
Do you know if the Remesh modifier has been parallelized? If not, I'm an experienced developer and am willing to work on it, any tips for getting started?
There are a lot of likes on this patch:
developer.blender.org/D5336
, but it does not fully work in Blender because there were problems with the code. Is it worth waiting for this patch for version 3.0.
Does the number of likes affect anything?
Will the default theme that you fix be available by default in Blender? And will your dark theme be included in the official release?

Hi Pablo, i hope you are having a great (to)day !
I have been making a list of things that are weird or could be better over the last few years. Some people have been helping me and i feel it is time to put this doc to good use. What would you advise to be a good way to get this to the devs (provided i make things more clear and even make usefull suggestions instead of whining).
Thanks for the good entertainment every monday ;)

Thank you for your weekly presentation. Every monday I look forward to it.
For my work, I make images of future designs of the public space in Amsterdam. Something I cannot find in Blender now, is the ability to quickly apply multiple textures on a real world scale.
For example: a pavement texture has a scale of UV: 1.20x1.20 meters.
Do you know a way to assign textures with this dimensions?

Hi Pablo. While waiting eagerly for another Blender Today I have a question :)
I noticed recently that asset browser was pulled back from 3.0 release and for that release window focus is mainly on pose library. To use asset browser we'll have to enable experimental features. I'm wondering how risky it will be to use it already in 3.0? Is there some place where technical discussion is happening (even deep down into the source code) that I could look into and learn from it what are current shortcomings preventing it from going live in 3.0 so I could assess if using it is going to be safe enough for me?

Hey, Pablo.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the current capabilities of blender VSE. In conjunction with the Power sequencer addon, it's looking really solid. Please do not abandon it, guys.
But my suggestion is from a bit different area. VSE editor has a neat feature of snapping to cuts and strips while scrubbing holding the ctrl modifier. Is it possible to do a similar feature for keyframes in the graph/dope sheet? You can see the proposal here. (
blender.community/c/rightclickselect/hpdbbc/
)
I asked Sybren about this and he seemed to be liked this idea, but asked me to contact the UI module guys to ask how to deal with such modifier keys and how to communicate the fact that this works in this way to users.
