Update Interface Areas to Tabbed/Docking Windows

I find Blender's current interface very limiting.

  • Can't set splitterbar width/height using python for those of use who make addons or python scripts.
  • You can't fit many areas in a convenient way to make it easier to use.
  • You can't dock windows to create tabbed regions.

I would like to suggest a much better way of doing it. Implement a tabbed-docking interface similar to how Visual Studio does it.

  • Drag-n-drop windows and dock them in any location.
  • You can make tabbed regions
  • You can also "pin" a window so that it is docked (as a tab) on the left/right/top/bottom of the app edge border.
  • Also allows you to maintain only one Workspace if you choose or have different docking layouts for each workspace for those who like workspaces.

Here is a screen showing what Visual Studio does for docking system.
