Testing USD Import in 3.2.0 Alpha

Hello there!

I have started testing the improvements being made to the Universal Scene Description (USD) importer in Blender 3.2.0 (in Alpha at the moment).

I am using the Kitchen Set USD asset from Pixar available at graphics.pixar.com/usd/release/dl_kitchen_set.html .

The Kitchen_Set_instanced.usd was imported in two scenes called Proxy and Render, corresponding to the respective data stored in the USD file.

This is how the model looks if you render out of the box.

So you need to create a new material, connect the 'displayColors' vertex color layer to the base color and then link that material to all the imported objects.

In the next post I will cover how we can efficiently use the USD asset in a shot based workflow.
