Hola Pablo, how are you doing? Since you didn't answer questions last week, I've collected the top comments (and their connected questions) to ask them in the name of the Blender Community:

1 . @Fred asks: Have you heard from Ton again? How is he doing? I haven't heard or seen anything from him in ages.

2 . @Grady asks: I think, since we blew past the old target of $100k/month, the blender fund page needs a new target (Maybe $150k/month)! What do you think?

* 3 *. I asked: There is an issue with this community site. Someone has been spamming clip arts recently (I've seen some new spam posts already today). Are the moderators aware of this, and can they please remove them? I hope you have planned a report post functionality for the new community site.

4 . @mind.read asks: I've been trying to learn Mantaflow and have understood some of it, but when I try to have bubbles and foam in the water, I've yet to get that to look good. Also, it seems to make millions of particles for the bubbles. And even on my new system, it's horribly slow. How do I control how many bubbles it makes?

5 . @daniellapalme asks: I love geometry nodes so much already, but I already miss a flag system like yours: Ditching the geometry output node and using flags instead will speed up seeing which node does what so much. I was wondering what the team thinks about that and your proposal?

* 6 *. @Grady asks: Is Baking still going to have a UI overhaul in 2.93? What's the plan for that?

7 . @kouzanagi asks: Wintab seems to be completely broken (cursor offset pen pressure) when you have multiple monitors. The issue appears since 2.92 became beta (and on 2.93 alpha) in 2.91, everything works fine. That's annoying because I always use the latest build for Pablo's experimental feature/s :) What it's the best way to report this issue?

8 . @mrblissfly says: Just to say, I noticed that Cosmos Laundromat was on Netflix here in the UK. Great to see, amazing.

Thanks for the entertaining stream every week, as well as such great software! Stay healthy!

Greetings,
Blender Defender

Hola Pablo!

Having a volume being outputted instead of geometry is extremely exciting, BUT I see a parallel with blender and houdini that I do not like at all. There is no socket type difference between a volume or a mesh. In houdini you can turn a mesh in to a volume and the resulting volume can be connected to mesh filters such as a bevel or subdivide and there will be no indication that the user did something wrong.

I feel it is important to point this out as the last thing blender needs is to adopt the user (un)friendliness of houdini! Image

Hi Pablo, what will follow after Geometry nodes? Rigging Nodes? Or the comeback of Particle Nodes / Physics Node?

Im new here, and that how i love this Blender Today channel. and its work on Sprite fright from the Animation Studio. I was wondering if you heard about whats going on in that project.

Happy Monday, Pablo! Will blender be getting a 'switch' type node for geometry nodes and shader editor where we can animate between each socket? This would great for product designers (render different materials back to back in an animation) and for geometry nodes (animate between different pieces of geometry). Here's a quick mock up: drive.google.com/file/d/1Up5Yk0mT_Gz8fwZZfW45lHx_IUpQMgGE/view

Thanks!

Hello Pablo, how are you? I've had a look at the roadmaps at the developer.blender.org/ and they are all are out of date, the Modeling and Scuplt section still show the roadmap for the 2.90 release. Are there any plans to update the current roadmaps?

Hello Pablo!

I always thought that the names of the volume/mesh modifiers are a little bit misleading. For me, the modifier "Mesh to volume" should be named "Volume from mesh", the original name makes you feel like you are applying the modifier to a mesh that becomes a volume, while you are actually applying the modifier to a volume object to take the same shape of a mesh. Same thing for the other modifier, it should be "Mesh from volume".

Thanks!

Hi Pablo,

What about the new hair object is there any news does dynamics works? Greetings P.K.

Hello Pablo! Will duplication of objects along the spline be implemented in the geometry nodes? Now it is possible to copy objects only through the modifiers (Array> Curve) but this produces distortion of geometry at the corners and copying only on one curve

slowk1d

* @Roman * And/or an array 2.0! And yes, the distortion when using curve in the array needs to fixed, either in the new nodes or by updating the modifier.

We learn best when we do something. Second best is watching someone else doing it. It gets quickly less fruitful if you watch somebody reading for you what other people did. I think, "show" comes from "showing", right? I observed that in the last few shows, Pablo was reading for us the text of the diffs (which is nice, considering how many people suffer from dislexy) rather than opening blender and letting us see it in action. But if you understand spanish language a bit, you will find that at least "Blender today live" is some sort of practice for the spanish show "Blender hoy", where he shows the audience even those things he forgot to mention at all in the english channel. So if you do not speak spanish already, this might be a good moment to start learning it. Yesterday i learned two new words (monton, mismo). Awesome!

Pablo, great show as always. Random question: is there a shortcut key to turn off the rendering (camera) icon on multiple selected objects? Or what's the best way to do this?

Hi Pablo! I have a question about single threaded brush painting in UV editor, it's possible to make it more performant (i am not sure, but i think it uses only single core in 'for loop' during applying a brush), with realy small brush works fine, but if you increase brush size, drawing becomes a slideshow? i didn't saw any tasks related to this old problem in workboard, so i decided to ask here

Hi Pablo! Simple question: Why there is no "Add plane" in the new add primitive tool on Blender? This is a simple feature that would help in the blocking process. Maybe add plane and add grid will be nice to have. I work with archviz and the plane primitive is usualy my start point, not the cube.

Hey Pablo!

I love geometry nodes so much already, but something I already miss is a flag system like yours: ui.pablovazquez.art/ Ditching the geometry output node and using flags instead will speed up seeing which node does what so much. I was wondering what the team thinks about that and your proposal?

Hi. I'm working on a plugin I call "Blend Together". I would like to hear from you and the community what you think about it.

(if anyone willing to help with art / video editing and definitely beta testing - let me know)

Got a question is Animation Viewport Playback Speed will be adressed anytime soon? I noticed that it very quickly gets very slow even under 20 fps, which results in a hard time for animators. Especially when wanting to move over to Blender from another DCC which handles animation much better at times.

Sometimes I also noticed that Blender rarely even uses half of the available power the hardware has, during sculpting highpolygonal meshes and during animation playback especially.

Hey Pablo, I think I asked a while ago when Geo Nodes were more in their infant stages... but now development is ramping up I was wondering if there had been any talks about implementing a C-based API to give users the opportunity to customise the creation of attributes, adding functionality, or implementing custom new nodes, similar to, say, the VEX language in Houdini? :) From following the Geo Nodes Devtalk thread I've seen a lot of interest of a usable C-based API, compared to Python, due to the speed when dealing with many points or instances (and multithreading, etc)?

Really excited for the future of everything nodes, a massive congrats to the team! :)

Hey again, regarding my last question on the roadmaps. I have recently watched the discussion regarding this task developer.blender.org/T73360 and its the main concern people has there was that at the road map it show that the Fast High Poly Mesh Editing is gonna be Finished at 2.92 and it hadn't been touched upon since I think 2.82 (or so). When Dalai and Campbell were asked about it, they say it's not planned right now. Could you please share what are they working is being worked on at the moment or update the current roadmaps to reflect those changes?

Hello Pablo, i love the show every week. It keeps me engaded with all of the new features, tips and techniques of how to get the most out of thos amazing software. I have been ising blender since version 2.8 so not that long. I learned 3d modeling in softimage 3d and then softimage xsi was introduced which later introduced the concept of the ICE system. Nodes that were used to control different effects and geometry throught the software. I don't know how familiar you are with softimage ICE but do you think this is a fare comparison to the everything nodes project in blender.

I have been away from 3d software for many years but blender has brought that joy back. Thanks again and keep up the amazing work

Hi Pablo, hope you're enjoying the snow, it looked beautiful over there. The task for fixing the undo of paint settings was marked as resolved even though it remains an issue in latest releases developer.blender.org/T71759 . Bastien recently requested that people stop adding their reports of the issue to the task and instead create a new task. For me, this is the single biggest issue keeping Blender from being a comfortable production sculpting tool (along with high-poly editing). I'm curious why this problem is so difficult to solve and why it isn't being considered bigger priority. I'm sure an explanation of the difficulties of solving this would help the community understand why it is still open after years. Thanks!

Ay Pablo! Have you figured out what you want to do with this thing yet? Also what is it called?

Bonus question edit: Do you have any juicy blender secerets that never saw the light of day?

pipeliner

* @SlugNugget * what do you mean? because it disappears after you click somewhere else?

1
BarfGarbage

* @pipeliner * No I just remember fram a stream a long time ago that the design was not optimal, so I wonder how it could change.

damian_winnichenko

Hi Pablo! How is your quarantine going?

The question for today is: do you know anything about when the baking system will support geometry nodes instances?

Thanks and have a good livestream!

Hi pablo,

I've been brainstorming a bit and I found a possibly cool way of how to use the volume to mesh modifier: blenderartists.org/t/fake-simulated-heat-distortion-in-blender/1282239

Hi Pablo! When will texture painting get an overhaul?
