Hello Pablo <3 Lots of love to you and your team <3 Just wanted to ask if you have ever pressed x by mistake for deleting normal pc files while not using blender lol? x'D

Hey Pablo. Why isn't nishita sky texture there for eevee? Is there a technical reason for it because it feels like it should be.

Hey Pablo!

This is a bit embarrassing, but I never used the proxy system. Not entirely sure what it is to be honest. I know with overrides we can link something then override it which sounds superior anyways, but if you have time, could you explain the difference between the old way and the new way? Also if you have time/available resources could you should how to link an animated rig with the character (if you link a rig it only brings the rig is this the correct way?).

* @daniellapalme * check this out, it should be of use: youtu.be/qLW27XcH6lY

Hey Pablo, I saw that new thing in 2.92 where the gpu take tiles from the cpu when it is free, how far can this go? for example a 32gb scenes, the gpu would take bits of it when it has free time? Thanks for the show!. wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Release_Notes/2.92/Cycles

Hi Pablo (and guest and audience)! :-) Thanks for the show. I hope, you are still doing fine in Amsterdam.

I really like the latest additions to the modifiers (especially the Boolean Modifier). Since my current hardware is a little older, sometimes, modifier calculations take several minutes. Do you know of a way to apply the modifiers without running all these calculations again? (Something like: 'dump the mesh, that has already been calculated '.)

Thanks for thinking about it!

* @Helge * Yea I thought about it too... blender calculate modifier when is on and after applay again... it is anoying.

* @wws3d * Yesterday, it took me about 40 minutes (2x20min) to apply a Boolean Modifier. ;-)

Thinking about it, maybe there is a way of accessing the 'modified' mesh via python. This could be a quick way of extracting the final mesh without running the calculations again. I'll try to look into this tonight.

* @Helge * how much ram you have and on what mesh you calculated boolean? how many verts?

Helge

* @wws3d * By the time, I was using an i7-3770K with 16GB RAM. However, I'm not sure about the vert count as the project really wasn't usable anymore and I didn't save the file. I guess, it must have been around 1 or 2 million verts. A Boolean Modifier in Exact mode with self-intersections activated probably was a little too much for my poor system. I knew that it would take a few minutes for the calculations to finish. But waiting again when applying the modifier was rather unexpected.

The good news is, that the python approach seems to work.

This:

import bpy
depsgraph = bpy.context.evaluated_depsgraph_get()
obj = bpy.context.object
object_eval = obj.evaluated_get(depsgraph)
mesh_from_eval = bpy.data.meshes.new_from_object(object_eval)

actually extracts the evaluated mesh in no time. I'll look into this a little more. But to me it looks very promising.

Do you think that you'll ever add the game engine back in I was really sad when it was removed

Hi Pablo! Happy BCON20!!

That was amazing! Thanks, team! You're awesome people!!!

My questions for today:

  1. What would be the next goal for development fund, since you've reached the previous one? (20 developers)

  2. Recently I put my dirty hands into Bullet Physics API and discovered a bunch of neat features that Blender doesn't have yet. For instance, high-field (terrain) collision. Do developers have any plans to add those neat features in foreseeable future?

Thanks a lot!

hi pablo ,have you seen the new amd cards they are awsome especially for linux users. any way my question is now that amd is a Patron fund are they going to support their version of 'RTX' harware acceleration in blender like nvidia did

When do we get print and error messages in the python console or a dedicated window? The afull "DOS Box" in Windows sucks and also on Linux a shell window feels a bit weird instead having all in Blender.

* @Carsten Wartmann * Sorry Pablo, I was not exact enough... I meant errors in Python scripts should also(!) display in the Blender Info Window...

grzelins

* @Carsten Wartmann * I tried to tackle that issue on my Google summer of Code. I managed to create a prototype, but so far no progress (no feedback and review). My whole GSoC was focused on logging and information reporting and I am not sure if this task can be treated separately: developer.blender.org/T78228

The issue is that logging to console is a safe way to provide information in case of crash. If we want to do error reporting in info editor we need some fallback system: proper logging or crash handling system. So the problem is relatively simple but time consuming.

hey there, ehm can we expect the "Floating windows" feature to be implemented in blender someday? And I have some thoughts on UV editor: fix the naming live unwrap - that UV editor allows you to have live unwrap based on pinned UV's and live to unwrap in 3d view allow you to unwrap just a model. And add an option to select UV seams, it would be very useful And in my opinion, we can change mesh properties tabs in this way - just move them from sides to top. In this case, we will save time by avoiding long mouse moves to select the desired tab and then find a property to change

Hello Pablo! Can we expect some news about keymesh on Blender 2.92?

If you have talked about it in the live, what are the plans for texture painting? thanks!

Hey Pablo 🙌 Do we get multi-object properties edite in properties?

Hey Pablo! Is there a reason why modifiers can be dragged left and right? I think it would feel much tighter and more accurate if you could only drag them up and down to reorder. What do you think?

Thank you!

Hey Pablo how are you. I just want to ask that why duplicating any window/area into new window get hidden behind the main window when clicked outside the the window ? is there any solution for this ?.

wws3d

HI Pablo. Modifier shrink wrap used on curve object cant be applayd. Is this bug ? when I try applay it curve return to regular shape before modifier. Regards. adn Yea modfier calculate data 2 times. first when you add modiffier and again when you will applay it. Regards Thanks

Hi Pablo! Thanks for the Blender Today shows! At the rightclickselect page there are several proposals about the possibility to add modifiers to collections. I guess that's supposed to be part of the library overrides. Do you know anything about that specific use case?

florinf

Hi Pablo, great job with the Blender Today show. I wonder if it is possible to have color thumbnail images saved with the file. They are greyscale now. If the camera is deleted they can be colored but I would like to keep the camera and save the colored thumbnails. Thanks.

Any news on Eevee's functionality regarding Equirectangular support?

I know of this thread: developer.blender.org/T68991 ,but I don't know what "Normal" Priority means as far as the roadmap is concerned. Any ideas on when we might see this?

Hi Pablo. What do you think about this? blender.community/c/rightclickselect/65dbbc/ A new ColorRamp?
