The Kids Just Stole The Car!!! Moria's Race open movie project...
So as you can see on this photograph taken by our spy on the set of Moria's Race. They let the little girl to do her own stunts. What is this? It's not real? Wait... wait... I just received a message that this shot is indeed not real. And rather was done in Blender. What is the hell is that supposed to mean?
Viewers discretion is advised! The next photograph shows the little girl and a few more characters inside the blender.
Oh I just learned that they didn't mean actual Blender. They meant a 3D animation suit called Blender. Well... This makes the whole experience less traumatic, I suppose.
Tutorial?
Well see? I could just link the part where I do this very shot. But there is context to everything. So I gonna link a lot more than this.

Let's go back to the 30st of September. Not so long ago. This is when I started leading to the moment that you could see on the screen. Quite frankly on the 30st of September I was still a bit far from that.
The way Moria wanted to get the car ( NeonSpeedster ) from Paps ( her dad ) is by lying to him. This lying part was done last week. There is a separate post on blender.community about that.

But basically she begged him for just 10 seconds inside the damned thing.
And he was not about to agree. Knowing his own's daughter's attitudes towards trying to win races she is too young to try to win. But since Jack ( their team's driver ) gave an interesting perspective on the situation. Paps painfully agreed to give Moria the chance. And gave her the 10 seconds that she asked for.
But as you can see in this snapshot I was struggling at making Paps give a good enough performance. Especially there was a stupid problem with Papses beard no-clipping through his shirt. Which required changes to his rig.

The next day. On the first of October, I was tasked with starting the next shot of Moria actually getting into the NeonSpeedster. The problem was that I needed a new original score for the moment. Since, well... This moment is kind of important to the story of the film.
So after a few passes of just the most basic blocking of the scene in Blender I launched Rosegarden and started my Mozart juices flowing.

The next day was a technical nightmare. Though the day was a success because the shot was at most satisfying.
The full recording of this event is split into 3 pieces though, for... as I said... it was a technical nightmare:

In the next day I was responsible for planning and partial execution of the next sequence of shots that was supposed to give our viewers the sense of rising tension right before our little Moria does the drive-off.
As you can see on this snippet, I drew some storyboards for it first. And then started animating them.

It turned out that light is a big issue in those shots. Though the shots themselves are short and the animation is not very challenging. Lighting them properly is quite an undertaking. Especially taking into the consideration the overwhelming amount of shiny - reflective surfaces in the scene.
At one point ( either in this day or the previous one ) I had to fight immense battles to get a pretty rim-light around the character without the source of this light being reflected in the glass of the window of the car.

The shot from the very top of the article was done on this day.
Together with that shot came plethora of other issues. Like for example: What should a futuristic race-car sound like? And how do I make this sound without making it illegal for me to release the movie? ( Copyright Industry is a total a** )

The aftermath of the escape. What will Paps do now? These kinds of questions I started posing on sixth of October.
For example, as you can see here, Moria is going into the city. This increases the amount of polygons significantly. This increases the epicness of the shots significantly too.
One other thing that had to be done on the sixth is slight edit to the soundtrack of the movie. It was rather preferable to play Papses theme when he gets angry and starts the pursuit of Moria. So I did that. And then soloed a bit on an electric guitar. Why not?

Shorter version?
I'm still editing it...
