CGMatter

Pablo and Ian, I hope you're doing spectacularly well blender-today,

I'm sure it's 1 question per but I'd like to ask 2 if that's okay,

First one's to Ian: great tutorial on tracking, you explain it in a brilliant way,

Do you ever use Boujou? 3DE? Syntheyes? Or is it blender tracking every day?

Secondly Pablo, you're the master chef making livestream gourmet,

I was wondering if you ever get nervous recording or have to do multiple takes?

* @CGMatter * he uses after effects tracker too and imports that in blender in some long scenes and car on road scenes

gilbertorodrigues

* @CGMatter * Can't describe how much I love your and his channels.

refaelvfx

* @CGMatter * are you the real CGMatter?

Hello Ian and Pablo, thank you for the time. If I may ask, as someone who already played a part in the industry, how do you composite your scene? do you use nuke/fusion or is blender simply enough? when do we need to switch to external 3d composite app?

5

Hello Ian, Pablo, and everyone watching.

Pablo, thanks for making these daily video's, they make quarantine a pleasure. I really liked the format the other day with midge, it reminded me of the golden era of 3d buzz with Jason and Zak (everyone watching is probably too young to know who they were :D ).

With that in mind, Ian, any chance of you spending 5 mins creating some cool visual effect from a film you know how to create in blender, whilst Pablo scans the youtube comments for any clarification people are asking for?

aayushdatta96

I have a question Now .... so you write, model, texture and do every thing..and still you can make so gud stuff in limited time (HOW?) and also do you use quixel ?

3
aayushdatta96

Hi, I do not have a Question but I have to say that Blender is getting more complicated then before ... please do not let them destroy it, tho I love you IAN (LOVE LOVE LOVE)

PeterMckinly

Can you pleaseeeeeeeee make a Blender lazy character tutorial. Where you texture and model a character. It would be interesting with your design style.

Also I hope u don't get the Corona!

Love letter to Ian

Ian, You always hit the G-spot of my eyes with every creation you make. You inspire me to sit down and constantly create ambitious projects without a single crybaby excuse. I often repeat to myself: "I AM - I AN" when I feel overwhelmed by my own projects. Thank you for being my creative support in my subconscious mind <3 My wallet will bloom like a flower when DynamoDream releases because damn, I freaking love large metal robots!

  • Question for Ian: When creating complex designs for objects in the scene on DynamoDream, how much pre-planning does it take for each scene? Lore bibles? or is every scene just your imagination going wild as you create?

(Optional Question if you have time)

  • Question for Pablo: If you guys were to implement RTX support for EEVEE in the future, do you think it would be possible to implement the same Raytraced rendered result for each frame using just a standard graphics card? My Titan X feels left out. :(

( Thankyou Note :) Eevee is my cheatcode to seemingly high budget animation, I can't wait to be a large donor in the near future at the end of my upcoming project. Thank you for these livestreams and bringing another Blender samurai on here pablo, you're an absolute gift to us all! <3

PeterMckinly

* @EnriqueVill * What the heck did I just read...

1
finalflasher

* @EnriqueVill * RTX will feature raytracing in blender after vulkan support for blender... coming sooon

Hi Ian, Pablo ! Ian, what are the features you like the most in Blender, and how/where did you get all those crazy ideas in your tutorials? Since you made those tutorials, a several other youtubers took that methode and i think it's great for experienced users so thank you. On a side note, will you ever do a fast tutorial on how to make fast tutorials ?

3
douzetv

is Ian himself rendered in EEVEE ?

2
thomasmouilleron

Yeah I've been such a huge fan of your work since the first Dynamo, appreciate it a lot. I was just wondering the other day umm... where do you get your ideas from?

2
shawnbecker4

Hi Pablo and Ian thanks for all your awesome work, really inspiring :D I was wondering if you had any thoughts on how to take a recorded video of an actors movement and use motion tracking on it to drive a skeletal rig?

2
luciano

my question for Ian, how can you be so awesome?. my question for pablo, what do we need to do to make you do caminandes 4 soon ?

2
snieb

Hey Ian (<3), could you give us a basic overview of how you do color management, from shoot to composite?
I'm asking because Filmic is infamous for altering the color of imported videos (at least among beginners). If I want to do it right, do I have to work in linear encoding all the way to the end, then do manual color grading?
Or is there a decent way to wing it if I just want to keep the look of footage I grabbed from Youtube?

2
zavedahmadca707

does Ian uses python scripting in blender what are his thoughts on it?, or any suggestions.

2
sperullo16

Ian, I LOVE YOU AND YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH!!! You’ve inspired me to pursue VFX and Blender, and I can’t thank you enough. Question, what are your future plans for your Dynamo series, and where do you hope taking it? Ian and Pablo thank you both for being you! <3

2
gadas_

Hello guys! At beginning I must thank you for your work guys - you are the best. :D I have a question about dynamics in Blender.

Do you know something about adding the possibility for Blender to turn on/off Rigid Bodies via some sort of falloff? Did you hear something about Fracture Modifier development? :) And will be there a possibility to spawn rigid bodies without Animation Nodes? :D

Last one: will current Animation Nodes will be similar to Everything Nodes? (I'm asking because I'm not sure about starting learning :D) Thank you, have a nice day! <3

kennisoan

Hello, so first of all I just wanted to say that I really admire you for everything you’ve done, really great dude, love you :P

Aaand there’s gotta be a question so (here’s the hard one):

  • When modelling from image reference (projecting some stuff from view and etc.) I very often come to a state, where I’ve recreated as much 3D geometry as possible and even added few other elements from other photos but the thing still looks low-detail (especially under bright lighting), unfinished and unrealistic. Do you know any dirty tricks on how to add detail without much hustle?

Thanks in advaaance ❤️

2
parkeramitrakshar

Oh my god, I can't Believe, It's You finally, IAN Hubert....😇 I have Been a Big Fan of you since I started Blender....

Q1. Any trick when you don't have Green Screen but Green Screen is What you need?
Q2. How was the Robot-Hand of Celia in Tears of Steel composited?

Thank You for Making Dynamo and Tears of Steel. Those are Just Awesome. ❤️

2
kennisoan

and also: why is there a CaptainDisillusion hashtag on stream?) Image

1
refaelvfx

* @klimkorovkin * captain disillusion was in yesterday's stream

refaelvfx

how do you come up with the enviroment idea? like, how do you decide how it looks? nothing i make looks good to me

1
ArtisticRyad

Iaaaaan I'm a Huge fan!!!Greetings from Bangladesh! I just want you to tell me that those awesome things you created were created only in blender or do I need some "PAID" things to follow your path, I'm just a beginner artist, and I'm mostly running after vfx. Your words will really encourage me!!!

1
Mads

Hey you legend Ian. Question: I remember you saying "aaaaand hopefully make some money" etc. in your videos from time to time. How does your days and weeks look right now? Stacked up on projects or is it an ever lasting struggle to get paid projects? wish you the best!

1
solas

Hey my dudes, you guys are super cool, thanks so much for the stream c:

Pretty run-of-the-mill question, but was wondering if you've any advice for those starting out with VFX and filming in general?

And to Ian: I've been a fan of Dynamo for a while and it always amazed me how you were able to translate your creative vision, per se, so well. There's something super special about it- could you describe how you approached the project initially?

1
operatorfrost28

Hey Ian, I've been watching your tutorials for quite a while now, and I have a question for you. Who/What introduced you to 3D modeling/animation and what has motivated you to use blender as your main 3D software? Thanks to Ian and Pablo for being amazing Blender artists!

1
finalflasher

Its My Birthday Today... Thank you Pablo and Ian Hubert saar for this stream today... Ian is so generous person to reply and suggesting anything on Instagram... Lots of love...

1
hudhayfa.a.johansson

Hi Ian and pablo, My short question is how do you deal with motivational block, and what advice would you give to someone not knowing 100% what they want to do with blender.

1
renaldo.goosen

One last one PLEEEASE... Is there a way that I can send you Ian some of my models for you to use when you want? And if so where do I send it?

clickdraw2019

Can you guys briefly talk about how Blender works? Im sure it would be cool for users to understand the behind the scenes a bit more.

For example today I learned: blender uses openGL API for real time view port rendering.

What are some of the main parts of whats under the hood of blender. And why is it exciting to you?

RedBeard3D

Hi Ian and Pablo! I'm a long time Modo user, but I'm trying to learn blender, do you have any tips for someone coming from another program? What's your favorite blender tutorial online?

luccadanielp

Hi Ian, Hi Pablo, I generally don't ask a lot of questions here, but I needed to ask you a few just to make sure, the first question goes to Ian: How do you combine humor with a VFX tutorial? I mean, the tutorial is supposed to must be understood, And with your characteristic humor, how do you make the "Lazy Tutorials" not lose the meaning of the tutorial itself, and for Pablo: I don't know how many times you have been asked this, but there could be improvements in the "Video Editing" section?. I think that if we give some progress to that section, it could make Blender improve even more, Let's say a lot !!, those were my questions, Thanks for doing these Blender stream, as a podcast while you do a project taking a glass of water (or anything jsjsj) it is interesting, see you ✌️

Amit

Hello pablo can we get the video on coding plugins in blender either blender or blender development channel

uwirlbaretrsidma

How do you deal with the shadow catcher not supporting colored shadows? You can throw all the colored indirect lighting on the shadows you want but they will be B&W still. I currently color them in the compositor but it's so hacky.

alyb873

If I want to model a tall tower and in one of your tutorial you use edit mode and adding edges and extrude them to model your building .. and I have one tower as a reference but I can't shot it with a camera because I'm not tall as the tower 😂 and I don't have a drone because it is illegal in my country, so how can I model the whole tower if I can't have a photo of it as a reference?

misterdudeman

Hey Ian and Pablo!

I'd call you two the stream dream team.

What are your thoughts on the new AOV Shader outputs and Mantaflow so far and do you think Light Group AOVs will come/be used in blender?

Cheers! Also Ian (Ian's unite!)

leo.hehlen

Just another comment to thank everyone for the amazing questions, I don't know if mine will be answered but I feel great for the things you guys have answered so far.

zacharykatz54

hey Ian, just wanted to say your work inspires me so much.

Whats something blender beginners don't generally focus on that you think they should?

Not_a_CGartist

Hey Ian and Pablo, I hope you're doing good today.

I have a question regarding eevee, what is the trick to get the closest possible results to Cycles render. Is it lighting or is it textures or MOTHS ?

deth.22

I have 2 question, I wanna be a indie film maker like you, were should i start. 2nd question is, how to get your content on patreon, my country doesn't support online paying i unfortunately

kaleb

I love your work! Quick question: What do you think is the best free photo scanning method? I've seen various different apps and software, but it either seems expensive, or gimmicky. Thanks!

abishek17703

Hi, I am a Bigg Fan. What was your first render in blender? and What is your Best render???

Silas

Hello, Peter Mckinnon on youtube reacted to your video about the VFX Part and he really liked it.. Not a question but your work is crazy inspiring. youtu.be/z0SVHm6-KUQ I GOT A QUESTION: What would you improve in the VFX part of blender?

lemenicier_julien

Hi Pablo and Ian, i love your one minuite tutorials ian !! i would like to know if light texture and lamp output will be available soon in eevee ?? I'm also wondering if a new bake tool is planned ? i would love to bake vector displacement map ! use them as a brush in sculpt mode and see them in realtime eevee i mean realtime displacement mapping !!! Cheers !

bellur.manojna

Hello thanks for doing what you do, do you suppose what you do will find itself onto mainstream platforms like netflix or amazon and are you considering scaling your operations up for that?

readingmaniac2004

how much effort should I put into learning eevee?

leo.hehlen

Hey man, huge fan, patreon, and other stuff.

This is the question :

You inspire people to develop their own workflow, and little quirks, but with such an original way of doing things (knifing everything for exemple and having terrible topology), is it hard to get along with other people when you work on team project ?

boris.wilson

Hey, Ian Hubert, I love your works and lazy tutorials, lol. A thing that was trying to know for ages is is how do you get rid of those green outlines of the green screen. When I do it it always stays with those lines around and it is very anoying. Is there a technique the people who work with VFX use? Cheers from Brazil :]

douzetv

Huge fan ian, you know it already. How's your everyday life ?? What are the other stuffs you do ?

Hey guys! Love your work Ian it inspires me everyday! I was just wondering how does blender fit into you pipeline?

eddyraulqr

Hello Pablo and Ian, I hope your are good and safe.

I want to ask about the MOTION MODEL in the tracking panel. Can it be explain the difference between them? And when we need to use one or the other?

Thanks.

purujitkulshreshtha8

To Ian: what would you say to aspiring VFX artists? Do you think there is room for new artists in the industry?

purujitkulshreshtha8

Hey Paolo, Ian. To Ian. What computer do you use, in terms of specs?

soerensc

Hi Ian, Big fan of Dynamo and your work. But is was wondering where you get all your cool textures from. And also: Do you have a good site for getting sounds for animations?

gilbertorodrigues

My question is to one of the best tutorial makers of all time. Ian, do you think blender really needs a geometry tracking feature that other softwares have? I've seen people ask for it in rightclickselect, and CGMatter talk about it.
