Why do you like Blender?
Hi! I am currently working on promo-video about Blender and I would like to know, why do artist prefer Blender to other 3D software? What are your favorite features in Blender? What do you like the best about Blender? What would you like to see in Blender commercial? Thank you!

I like how Blender is worth its weight in gold, meaning it is worth what the one who uses it believes it is worth, if that means money or time and patience. I also like how transparent the Blender Foundation are with their users, making sure every single daily update is covered and understanding what should go forward through the public's reaction along with how it fits within the software's infrastructure. Also, isn't it amazing how Blender just makes sure everything you need is available at your disposal to create incredible films? I use Blender for video game development and can definitely say, after working with so many other 3D softwares, it is definitely the fastest and most efficient 3D modeller, despite the room for improvement.
It has allowed me to capture my imagination with photorealistic accuracy
Accessibility. The ability to collaborate without getting stuck with the scalability of commercial software. Gives everyone a voice in this media driven world.
Fast to open, responsive and stable. Maya crashes multiple times a day, blender keeps me sane at work XD Also, really nice modelling workflow with shortcuts that makes modelling twice as fast as other 3d software
Hi!
I've shared the question on Twitter, there are some replies already: twitter.com/BlenderToday/status/1293859349589360641
Hope that helps!
Because you can make 3d models, animations, VFX, simulations, etc. And all of it is free so your "good for nothing grandson" (ian hubert) can finally get a job
I would like to see a single asset run thorough all you can do with blender, a bee would be a good choice. Animate it, simulate it , 3D print it, make it look real, make it look cartoony, sculpt it, run it though a loop, apply nodes, make it from nodes, put it in a game, a movie, apply effects, morph it into something else, do a grease pencil scene, make it look cute, gory, funny , anything you can think of. Ultimately the thing I love about blender is the thing that makes it hard to learn, you can do ANYTHING with it. The only limits are your skills and imagination. If you challenge people to do what they can with a single model, you could probably get a lot of people to help you out. The community is the reason it is as good as it is. As Bugs Bunny would say "The first step is a doozy", but the results are real. Oh and it is FREE FOREVER -FOR EVERYONE!
"What I like about Blender and which features do I like?"
Blender's community is pretty great. Though there are some instances of "extreme proud" users but that's with all software; Maya, Max, Zbrush, Meshmixer etc..
For me, I like it because it's my first 3D software.. And it's pretty easy to control when you know a small bit of python scripting.
A large multi-step process could be completed within 1 or 2 clicks if you have a small amount of python scripting knowledge. I'd say that's pretty powerful. You have Python tooltips and the ability to edit the code within Blender itself. Wish these two equivalent features were in all Opensource software.
"What would you like to see in Blender?"
Major points:
If you make art or anything in Blender and you're a beginner to python scripting. Then check out "Scripting for Artists" by dr. Sybren A. Stüvel on the Blender cloud; cloud.blender.org/p/scripting-for-artists . Dr. Sybren is also a Blender developer, which is a major plus if you're learning from him. The course is pretty easy to understand and simple for artists to pick up. I'd say the course is extremely useful.
Because it's melting all of the workflows into one streamlined pipeline. One second I can model traditionally, then switch to sculpting in a dime. Grease Pencil making the line between styles of modeling is even blurrier than it was before.
is there someone who dislike?
Never hangs while animating, never hangs while material combining /mixing, never hangs while "undo" on blend shapes... I mean I got a whole list that will chicken skin any other 3d application user out there with Blender by simply "working" as intended. You can't do that in other software: scrub your timeline with a waveform playing, twice, and you're in for a hard crash in any other software.
It's good for making 3D animated furry porn
The community and updates.
A huge community full of knowledgeable and helpful users, that are happy to support whatever you may be working on.
As well as that, the fact that blender seems to have a significant update every 2 months or tho, and with new tools seemingly announced every week it is encouraging and exiting to see how this great software develops.
Blender is a free, lightweight, all-in-one DCC software. I like the idea (and I used it many times) that I could download the sourcecode, change it for my needs, compile it and use for personal and commercial projects. My most beloved feature is modelling. Comparing to the other 3d software I had been using for the prior 12 years, modelling in Blender is much easier with no restrictions to the topology.
I love the community that from the first day received me with open arms and always with tips to improve my skills. And that blender is able to basically do everything (3d modeling, sculpting, texturing, etc.) for my hobby / work is impressive and makes my life easier. Blender is what it is today because of the work of thousand of people around the world, that idea is just amazing.
I like Blender Because It's Not Just About you and your Work Alone, Rather it's about the Community and Openness
It`s one of my favorite tools for make my work before my two priters
For me it was that it had a small download size i started back with(2.78) and it ran on my (Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8400 (6M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)+GTX 605(512mb)) like a champ and that was it thats how the journey started.
Here is my top 10
It's the only truly powerful package that is free and without a complicated lisence where you need to sell your soul just to figure out if you own your creations.
It's (mostly) an all in 1 package where it gives me great ability to get in to the loop of creation and not have to readjust myself to another software with different looks and controls.
It's open source! I can recompile it with a blue icon for the master branch!
The community! 🍩
EEVEE. That's it no explanation needed.
The by DEFAULT dark theme (0 retinas burned while looking up a tutorial at night)
Public and transparent development that gives me a constant motivation to keep trying out new ways to create things (thanks Pablo Dobarro)
The absolute state of sculpt mode
Rich library of addons
An all around surprisingly good looking program. (aside from the badly scaling text and no integrated title bar) People like to ignore this one but I put importance on how my editor looks if i'm going to be using it for tens or hundreds of hours.
The community, the accesibility, used to be that once you learnt a part of it strongly most of other parts made sense, how its a "suite" not just one software with multiple capabilities that allows you to get something done from zero to hero without fiddling around with many other softwares. Its right there, its available, its fully featured, its free, i can share it.
I love all things in Blender.
Blender is my love, my live, my home. I work 48h/day and 8days/week in Blender. I use manly the daily experimental builds (2.91) Living without Blender? No way...... I start using it at the version 2.49 and never have report a bug. I live with it and wait for updates.
