Hey Pablo. Please add a more direct way to move the Pivot in Blender. it feels hacky and slow to use the 3D Cursor coming from Industry software user.

4
borschberry

* @Iby * Same answer all the time). Pablo is not a modeler and does not understand what you are talking about. I ask for this for a long time. And his trigger words are "industry standard" and "other software" as you might have noticed))

1
HUgoANtunes

* @Iby * you don't need the 3d cursor to change the pivot point. It's even at the video

borschberry

* @antunes10hugo * As far as I understand, we are talking about an analog of the dynamic pivot from other programs (which cannot be named). To do this, you can now use a 3D cursor, which is not so convenient and requires a lot of extra clicks.

HUgoANtunes

* @borschberry * you could use the 3d cursor but now you can snap it or move the origin witouth the 3d cursor

Hi Pablo! Testing 2.90 I got quite a lot of random non-reproducable silent crashes to desktop and I was wondering if Blender keeps some log files or so for these, so that I could try reporting them

4
haroldgerenton

* @ogierm * Yes these last days, I also experienced a lot of these non-reproducable crashes. It's probably due to the fact that devs are implementing and changing lots of stuff these days. docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/troubleshooting/crash.html depending on the os you use, location of the crash logs may vary!

peter.boos

* @haroldgerenton * Me to i notice the intel denoiser node wasnt recognized in post processing (delete and add it again) (linux version)

momotron2000

Speaking about performance - how many push ups can you do, Pablo?

Aside of that here is my blender related question: Is there anyroadmap for improving color management in blender? It's great that there is a new Sky Textutre included (which only works in Cycles for now) but this is already a step to the right direction. To support 10 bit wide gamut monitors, Blender drawing code needs to be improved to output 10 bit instead of 8 bit when displaying the 3D viewport and images/renders. Minimum should be 12 bit, downgraded as required. Dolby Vision is a 12 bit representation.

This is taken from this task: developer.blender.org/T68926

It's a huge thing but could be a great milestone for Blender 3.0 - I am just imagining a short film with great colored lights in HDR with the new Particle Node system by Jaques Luecke which is coming very soon!

haroldgerenton

* @momotron2000 * you are a gentleman and a scholar. Proper Color Management is something that is essential to studios and individuals alike. A better implementation of ACES is also very important since it's slowly becoming industry standard.

I saw the Optix on non RTX cards news! I'm wondering does this require driver updates or will it work right away?

4
reanimate

* @Lapis Sea * Where do you see that news? can you share a link to it? Afaik most of the last couple version of Nvidia drivers already support OptiX

reanimate
SciVfx

* @Lapis Sea *
There is a way to enable it for 2.83:
devtalk.blender.org/t/blender-2-8-cycles-optix-on-non-rtx-card/11224/17
... howewer it doesn't work for me. For other renderers you should download the cuDNN, then the Denoiser automatically works for all Maxwell+ cards. Is there a way to do the same, using CUDA for rendering, but with Optix Denoiser?

CansecoGPC

* @Lapis Sea * 2.90 will pick Maxwell GPUs and up, no need for more tricks, developer.blender.org/rB473aaa389cca1a5062a5867b08fb05276d0b385d

Hello Pablo

Thanks for your work and the Blender Team. Will be Rigid body and Cloth together collided again?

dimitar

Hi Pablo! What's the status of CAD snaps?

3
augusto.c.felix

Hi Pablo. What happened with the light groups feature? I could not find it on blender dev talk anymore.

3
blue-kiwi-media

* @augusto.c.felix * do you mean this: developer.blender.org/D1985 Because if yes, I agree! I even made an entire video about it. youtube.com/watch

marceloferrante

Hola Pablo! I made my 1st patch developer.blender.org/D7899 for this: developer.blender.org/T51865

I can continue doing the same to other exports, but i don't know if it's right. How to ask someone to review?

2
pipeliner

* @marceloferrante * go to blender.chat . Dalai might help you to find the right person for review. But be prepared that your code might be changed so it can be integrated into blender master

jeanalexandersc

Hola Pablo! Are there any plans or thoughts on applying Animation Layers natively in Blender?

2
jascrambles

* @jeanalexandersc * I know there is a Paid Add-on now. But it would be nice to have it natively in Blender. This feature is after all on of the reasons why Maya is Industry standard in Animation.

pipeliner

* @jascrambles * it's not the reason

Samo

Hey Pablo, I missed you and missed watching your streams. But I’m glad to see you’re well and safe.

Does the blender team know about the Sorcar procedural modeling addon? And if they do, will the everything nodes/ procedural modeling features be similar to this addon?

2
pipeliner

* @Samo * they do know sorcar but no idea if it will be similar. time will tell

BarfGarbage

Congrats to everyone on the release of 2.83. You are entitled to one (1) pat on the back. Question time: What is different between Eevee viewport render and proper F12 Eevee render? When rendering a detailed scene F12 render can take two to three minutes while a viewport render takes 10-15 seconds with the same amount of samples and subdivisions. What gives?

2
limarest

* @SlugNugget * Basically Viewport Render is capped at 1 sample no matter the settings

haroldgerenton

Hola Pablo, Congrats for Coffee Run and this first Long Term Support Release, hope you're doing well after this pandemic crisis. It is so nice to see you live on a friday!

I have a question regarding everything nodes is there a roadmap of some sort? We know that particle nodes is coming pretty soon, but when could we expect the rest? (rigging, animation, sculpting, etc...)

Is this transition towards procedural workflows gonna happen gradually or will there be some kind of period during which the devs are going to make everything node based?

2
bnzs

hi

sorry for that i ask such a question

BUT actualy performance is on same level as they been

this is no rocket science - all we can open 2.79 and 2.83 and test

video from me

BLENDER veiwport IS SLOW!

links from others (there are no noticeable changes from those times.)

You look great with longer hair. Put away that cap!

* @grinsegold * At Last, Someone saying the Thoughts in my Mind...... I was definitely Gonna say That....❤️

noodleongirl24

Why is the magnet snapping with location bigger than rotation or scale? Also, is it possible to add volume passes to Eevee?

1
Dragonspartan12

Do you think blender will not spend so much time on mantaflow since they released the ability to use vdb files?

1
eqkoss

Hi pablo, I would like to know if we will see per light AOVs or Custom Light AOVs soon in blender, it's really usefull for lighter artist like me? and I think blender need improvment about lighting, like light editor, light linking etc

1
toni_clavell

* @eqkoss * check this addon, you can buy to support the developer but you can also get it for free in his github blendermarket.com/products/gaffer-light-manager/

dddjef

where is the renderpass preview mode in 2.8 now? I need to preview the objects render visibility without actually render the scene. How to do this in 2.8?

1
blue-kiwi-media

Any plans for interaction between different physics systems in blender? Like floating objects in water? Example: youtu.be/T9RfN8TwWw8

Hi Pablo, Did you know Optix features can be used on 2.83 with GTX cards? developer.blender.org/rCf545000c0d7cd3ac7259571275751df47aa692fd

Just need to edit Blender shorcut, easy if you install Alacarte program on Gnome desktop.

1
SciVfx

I tried this with 2.83, but doesn't work. Which is the minimum driver version for this (my guess is that could be the problem)

CansecoGPC

* @SciVfx * On Linux 440.82 is fine, but basically latest stable drivers should be fine. Minimum card is 750 GTX or TI

1
SciVfx

* @CansecoGPC * My card is gen 10 so probably the older driver is the problem. I hope that the recents drivers are stable, I kept the older because there were stability issues with some 4xx.xx drivers

k2chun

Hi Pablo! So happy with the release of 2.83. Here I have some question related to withing in Mac OS.

In the sculpt mode, the sneak hook brush is not generated extra mesh, but mesh with distortion, which was work in 2.79.

Also in grease pencil, in the mac, the drawing is not as smooth as the demo, it still created line with corner with the line move fast... it is a problem for mac?

Hola Community (and Also Hola Pablo)....

(It really Feels Great using 2.83..... It feels so much Faster than any alpha/beta builds.... ALL Thanks to the Great Devs at Blender)

So, Any Furthur Updates on Node Based Systems that Jacques Lucke is Working on? Maybe Node Based Particle System? * (It was like about a month ago or more that you mentioned Him and his Projects) *

1
pipeliner

* @quarkINatom * partivele nodes are coming soon

peter.boos

Not sure if its a bug but collections have a render option in outliner...unlike other stuff its not animatable, making it animatable can reduce render times a lot in certain cases (dont render the world if your inside a house etc).

  • Feature Request *

Can we animate Origins of an object? It would be really great for simple animations.

danisonic

Learning blender from scratch now. Love you guys. Very convinced is going to make a difference in our content. Thank you. 💖

Is there any plans for OpenVR support? At the moment there is no OpenXR support with SteamVR, so I am unable to use the recent VR support.

plm.mptech

Why are there still nightly builds of 2.83.0? Is it released or not?

lukasbabravicius

hi way in blender 2.82 render FFmpeg video is slower then AVI video

blue-kiwi-media

Is there any possibility to mix different fluid colors in blender?

TheIntrepidAnimator

Any chance we'll see Improvement to view port playback performance when working with multiple Animation rigs in a scene? This has plagued 2.8+ when working with larger scenes, or with multiple rigs in an environment, as to where this is no problem in the Maya view ports.. and it's never been addressed, even though it's been talked about at extreme length?

lucaspedrajas

when you apply a curve modifier to an object following a curve with already curve modifier to another curve it doesn't work why is it? the object stops being deformed, I really want to be able to do it ;P

lucaspedrajas

* @lucaspedrajas * the same happens to some nested modifiers configurations :(

TheIntrepidAnimator

Hi Pablo!

Any chance we'll see Improvement to viewport playback preformance when working with multiple Animation rigs in a scene? This has plagued 2.8+ ☹ when working with scenes with more than one rig, or larger enviroments, and yet is no problem in industry standard softwares like maya :C
