Please help me with this user interface things blender did since I 3.0. blender.community/c/today/GYLr/

Hello Pablo, what about iridescence? Unity implemented a beautiful iridescence for realtime, which is also suitable for Eevee, i think

Currently, the Blender Outliner, only sorts objects either alphabetically (the default mode) or in the order they are added to a collection. How hard is it to implement manual sorting?! Don't you think it's great to sort them just by dragging them up and down the hierarchy?! We can already rearrange modifiers in the stack, why not apply the same concept to objects in the Outliner?! Please Blender developers!

Hello Pablo!!

The Principled BSDF node has a lot of great documentation in the Blender Manual ( docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/shader_nodes/shader/principled.html )

But there is currently no meaningful mouseover text on the node in Blender, it only says "Input value used for unconnected socket" for all the sockets. How can an idiot like me help? :D The information is there in the Blender Manual, but I don't know anything about coding! Cheers from norway!

YES! This has always made me go "WHAT?" It seems like it should be less than a one day copy-&-paste job. I'm curious why they still haven't done anything about it.

I watched Pablo's stream afterwards and came across this question. Actually, shader nodes does support tooltips just like geometry nodes, just no one has done the work to actually add the tooltip text. If you look at the code and search for .description(N_( , you can see all of the tooltips/descriptions.

If someone made a patch to add those descriptions to shader nodes, that would be great!

Hey Pablo!

Do you think it would be benefitial to add "Survey" functionality to the Motion Tracking module? Basically, being able to attach known 3D coordinates to 2D trackers prior to solve, either from a photogrammetry scan of the scene, or from previously tracked shots in the same location. This feature is in various other 3D tracking software and is really helpful for aligning multiple shots that were all taken in the same location, or shots that have no paralax and are unsolveable on their own, but could be solved if you fed the software information about the 2D tracker locations.

Cheers! I love watching Blender Today!

Hello Pablo,

Blender Studio currently is using the open movies to improve on the Blender toolsets in real production - which is not only the abolute right thing to do but also really awesome. For Blender and for its popularity.

Do you think it's a possibility for Blender Studio to maybe think about an Open Game again, with an Open Source Game engine like Godot at some point to improve on more game specific toolsets and also help Godot to gain some more traction and popularity?

Cheers. :) Love Blender Today Live.

oi, Pablo! are operators separate enough in the code that a new physics operator will be able to be added in the future by a c/c++ layman? I would like to try adding to the solvers we have for physics in Everything Nodes!

Hi Pablo,

What do you think about a secondary upvote button in right click select which is only available for (any kind of) patrons of Blender? Easiest way would be to let only this group use the heart icon. And by every release the top 3-5 of the ideas they vote up gets done by the devs. It's a pain to see many upvoted and great ideas getting lost in the Sea of RCS. And this would also push more users to be patrons as it's a really captivating benefit of it.

Hello Pablo!

Any updates on particle nodes? and how do I access them? I no longer see the option in developer extras/eperimental tab?

Hey Pablo! Hope you had a wonderful week and will have yet another as well :D My question is in regards to this - developer.blender.org/D13533 (Adding Manifold Next Event Estimation Sampling Technique). This was something that seemed to be building momentum fast and it was very exciting to see it possibly getting implemented soon, but for some reason, since the 9th of March, it seems to have gone quiet. Any development updates on this? Having this released even as a WIP render kernal would be great, even though it's currently only good for refractive caustics. It already looks absolutely incredible in terms of what it's capable of and the speed at which it achieves it.

I also can't seem to find out which of the experimental builds still has MNEE in it. D13533 with the MNEE patch isn't there anymore :(

hey pablo will blender modeling , animation and sculpting get attention again

eritokaio1

I noticed EEVEE Next appeared in the Experimental tab of 3.2, what's the progress on that? Been holding off re-writting some complex NPR shaders in case it comes out and I need to do another rewrite.

(no rush, take ya time)

Hello Pablo, if I can have 3 simple questions on single topic, hopefully quick to reply:

  • do you know whether fast sculpting & painting in Eevee (from sculpt-dev branch) will make it to 3.2?

  • can we expect the same performance improvement for Weight Paint?

  • is there any chance original Vertex Paint mode remains, but will get the performance improvement from Sculpt Paint, because I miss UI and features specific to the vertex paint workflow (like quick polygon / vertex masking using right-click selection, face corner painting, mask from Edit Mode etc).

Thank you!

Hi Pablo, thank you for your great show :).

Since a few weeks I am busy trying to understand the data that is generated by the Blender Open Data/Benchmark tool. I have a lot of questions about it, but the main question is wat Blender tried to acomplish with this tool? Apart from the Blender Open Data webpage, is there more info somewhere online with more info (about the data model for example)?

Can I contribute somehow to this project as a data analyst?

Thanks for your time :)

Rob

hey,

how about a node for geometry nodes which read tables.. for example cvs or txt without pyhton and scripts. I mean a really easy way to process statistical data with geometry nodes. It's just about rows and columns. And easy math. Hope what I mean and write here is understandable. I think there would be a lot of potential for a lot of 3D visualizations. The idea is just to make everything easier without being a programmer...... ;)

have a good peaceful time and thanks for the livestream and development!

btw. Greetings to ton :D

thanks for the answere !!

Hey Pablo, how's it going?

if I'm not wrong, in 2.93 alpha there was a really nice UX feature added which was a simple button on the viewport to lock the camera, but when 2.93 was released, it was removed. Whyyyyy? It was actually one of the better UX improvements I've seen in a while, the current method of locking the camera is okay but it's so hidden that when a new user tries blender for the first time, they just couldn't find a way to lock the camera when there's a button to go to the camera view in the viewport, please bring back that button.

Also, what happened to the High_Poly mode described in the Asset creation Pipeline blog post a year ago?

Also, the current method for UV unwrap is to be in the edit mode. Why can't we unwrap in just object mode? because if there's a very heavy object in the viewport, or there are multiple objects, going to edit mode can slow things down even tho the edit mode performance have been improved since 2.9, a way to load low res proxy of high res texture and a way to change the opacity of textures in UV tab would be very useful.

Also, what is logic for having nodes on top of the render in the compositor? Not only I've never seen anything like that in any software but also neither the shader editor nor geo nodes editor work like that. I really don't know what's the point and I know I can edit the workspace and use an image viewer to work but in that way, some nodes don't function properly like the sunbeam node that uses a widget to work properly.
