Free | Sculpt: Subdivide/Un-Subdivide
This is a simple script that adds two basic functioanlity that already exists in Blender. You can reach to that faster and steps to process that is lowered to minimum with this add-on. It contains two buttons for Subdivide and Un-Subdivide and two algorithms for subdivision operation that is 'Simple' and 'Catmull-Clark'.
There is nothing new here but such a basic operations has to have a faster approach while sculpting. While Blender does not have ability to sculpt in different subdivision levels and preserve geometry at each one of them. So i desided that there must be a simple method to do so. There is no need to use Multires modifier at this state of Blender development in my opinion, simply because it has lower performance in sculpting while its on.
I'm sure in the future there will be a better solution for this but for now it is nice to have an automated and fast operation than several steps through modifiers or edit mode.
WARNING: As Blender has its limits in subdivisions so does this script also. Beware of multiple subdivide operations because it may result of slow down Blender and consume much memory of your PC. In that reason I decided to put some warnings at vertex count limits. If you think that your PC can handle more then feel free to modify this script as it easy to understand.
Any comments about to improve the script or other suggestions you can ask down below.
Have a nice sculpting, and wash your hands.

to TheRedWaxPolice: Yes, this is a good addition to Blender as alternative to Edit poly Un-Subdivide, but Multi-resolution modifier as it is cannot be applied while in sculpt mode. As a result of that you either have to go to object mode and apply modifier, or keep suffering from the lack of performance. I prefer to do less moves to achieve such a basic need in sculpting. I compiled and tested this feature and it may be implemented in this script in the future. This method should be even faster.
