CutAway Shader addon update for Blender 2.8x. Testers needed.

CutAway Shader developed by Dylan Whiteman is a great tool for cutaway renders and reveals. I am funding the update to 2.8x but having more testers should speed up the availability of this great addon for Blender 2.8x.

If you want to know more about the addon check the link below: (link: bit.ly/2YH6uLo ) bit.ly/2YH6uLo

To download latest version click here (link: bit.ly/2HfelVd ) bit.ly/2HfelVd

Let's get some support here to get it to a stable version for 2.8x

Hey guys. Here is a new link. It does work with 2.8x minus some bugs. bit.ly/2Quc0vi

Hi every one!

Any luck with this Shader yet? The link that you posted is offline, could you post a working link?

romboutv

I was also working on this addon. I got it working again partially though. I can get it to work when linking the material on multiple parts though

ar.gdipesh

Any update to this addon? And any working links to test this addon?

martysmind

@pablo.quintana The links stopped working. Any way to get the latest version?

martysmind

@amydmcclure Any luck evaluating BlenderBim? Is ti worth the tim investment?

pablo.quintana Author

Sounds great @amydmcclure!

I use 3ds Max & Arnold at one job and Blender at another. This tool would probably allow me to switch to 100% Blender. Will also look at the BlenderBIM linked below.

amydmcclure

BTW, one limitation to Arnold's clip_geo shader is that you can't have intersecting clip geo shaded objects. I can see how that would be a mathematical nightmare to program although I'd think they could just be analyzed in order like a modifier stack?

Hi there. is there a new link to the latest build of the add-on? they are expired, and I would like to try it.

Moult

This is an incredibly important add-on for architectural work. Has there been any progress?

pablo.quintana Author

* @Dion Moult * Hi Dion. For me it works, although not really stable. No progress has been made. I have hired a Blender Developer to update it, maybe if we chime in all in this, we can get it to a stable phase. Will you be able to put some money into this?

Moult

* @pablo.quintana * by the way, I've done something similar here: youtube.com/watch - I wonder how the cutaway shader techniques differ?

* @Dion Moult * Hey Dion. I will test and report if it has something that is different. The CutAway shader works only with CPU as it requires OSL to work.

* @Dion Moult * That looks awesome! Is there a way of changing the default RED cut away colour? I see it in a couple of sections, but for some reason it will not update. Thanks!!!

klutzo

* @klutzo * Dion mentioned in his YouTube video, that colours are only affected on a NEW cutaway shader FYI.

@pablo.quintana I you method works with material override, how did you tackle Eevee with that? Is the shader an osl shader?

romboutv

@pablo.quintana Could share a new link with that work you guys have done

romboutv

@Moult It's a custom build node which connects to an OSL shader, therefore it's only CPU and only cycles. You version looks very nice!

Hi has there been any other updates on this. The links have now since expired.

pablo.quintana Author

Sorry, guys it hasn't been more development. It does work in 2.81, but still very buggy. I use it all the time. I will upload a new link and ask you guys to see how we can get it stable with all your help.

@pablo.quintana Could paste a new link? I was also working on this addon and got it partially working again. Yet i can't get the linking objects to work properly

Hello Pablo, thank you for the addon. I tried to install it on Blender 2.8 but with no luck :( do you have a new version maybe ?

genjuro

dose it work in 2.8 ?
