A problem with version 3
When I create something new or copy something and just select that, the original object moves with it and can't select to separate them, and when I move something closer to another object and resize it, it resizes both, as if it is doing soft select to an area of objects around the item.
What to I do to turn this off, so I can edit or move the item I select or copy without everything else being effected.

look in the properties and modifier tab, if there are no constraints and / or parenting.

There wasn't, but the problem was solved by using restore to defaults, because the Proportional editing object mode was on without it showing blue, like it was on by default. Resetting defaults fixed it.
