Hi Pablo. first post here. i want to ask when do you think eevee will have object motion blur added? i think that's the one feature that will make it production ready. that and maybe rt ray tracing but cycles is amazing enough already, keep up the good work guys!

Hi Pablo, any news on when we could expect some progress/update on the library overrides? Also, will these overrides include the possibility of having different render settings per render layer?

4
Josephbburg

* @nunoalexconceicao * blender.community/c/rightclickselect/l7cbbc/ my RCS proposal on the topic. From a previous Blender Today it looks like this will be possible with Dynamic overrides, the second stage of the Library Overrides project.

hannanhanid

When will eevee get real time ray tracing??

What happendf to the 3d gizmo icons? {attachment BlogpostTools_old_toolbar__Kopipng}

Hi, besides replacing Proxies with Library Overrides. any updates coming to rigging in Blender, it's not getting any major upgrades and honestly it's the one part that keeping it behind other major 3D Softwares.

Hello Pablo! I have been using grease pencil for a while to do set design sketches, and find there's a feature that would be suuuper useful to implement, which is a transform tool (like a simple gizmo with rotation translation) to place the 3D cursor precisely. Right now the snapping behavior when you have a lot of GP objects and few geometry in a scene seems very random and quite off, and I find myself using values in the view/3d cursor panel to place the cursor where i want my strokes, not ideal. There used to be a plugin that kind of did this it seems, but not for the latest versions. Thanks for the show and can't wait to see the next grease pencil features!

Hi Pablo. Last month I was on patagonia (el bolsón) and loved it!

My question: I was trying to read the blender code, but i just mess around and lost myself.. So, i ask if you could do some blender today-like video showing the basics to dive into blender code.

Is ProjectMPX still in development by pepeland? They haven't said anything about it in 8 months now.

Is it possible to check for bots over on the Jobs board? There seems to be an automated answer on every single post

Hi Pablo!

I remember the streams when you had been drinking a beer at home while telling us about Blender development progress. That was a cozy and chilling atmosphere!

Anyway!

I wonder, why there is no polyline hand drawing instrument in mesh edit mode? Sometimes, it is very needful. what do you think? For instance, it could be used in organic modelling in conjunction with Skin modifier. Orit could be used as a boolean cutter with a less artificial edge looking.

UPDATE: How could I help with the icons design? Where to start from? Where to get tasks from? How to commit my designs?

Hey Pablo, quick question and big hope: there will be any chance to have a new cloth simulation and soft body simulation system, possibly based on the Vivace paper? And, why not, a unified cloth+soft bodies+hair unified system? After so many years with the current implementation a new multi-thread implementation would be very welcome :D (Imagine the animation 2020 with this new system) youtu.be/xIfuplNTjHc

* @pietrobelgioco * I don't know if he tried that exact one, but you can see here that last week Zeddb did some tests with newer cloth solvers: wiki.blender.org/wiki/User:Zeddb

TTNK

* @Tobias Kummer * I'm truly truly hoping that he's using the same algorithm that I'm thinking of, because, if that's the case, the soft bodies simulation in the next future will be more than awesome

* @pietrobelgioco * There is this realtime cloth addon. perhaps you know it. Here's a video; youtube.com/watch But he didnt update it to 2.8

EDIT Ow he actually did, i was thinking later... wait i did see him use it in 2.8 youtube.com/watch github.com/the3dadvantage/Modeling-Cloth-2_8

Two weeks ago, Dalai Felinto mentioned a meeting with an independent studio, who might be connected to NPR development for Blender. Any news?? Currently Freestyle may not have project maintainer, and crashes on any big use of particles (leaves, grass, hair/fur, rocks) as I just checked. It kept going longer than before, but crashed out. Turning off all particles allows it to render, very SLOWLY. It needs to be multi-threaded? for speed? LANPR is neglected, with no posts for changes on the Dev. threads, last merge Dec 8 2019, but the current Win64 builds to Blender 2.83.2, which is new??!! Status of NPR please??

Hi, how are you? landscape generator can do everything crucial, but it is slow and consumes a lot of memory. 4096^2 verts terrain consumes 1.5GB of space (and even more ram), while heightmap of the same resolution takes just 10MB of disk space. And erosion takes ages. Are any speedups planned for it?

Hey Pablo - I like how blender can have the comp in the same file as the 3D scene, but what is the correct workflow for toggling between running the comp and render together, then and just running the comp, then re-running the render etc?

Hey Pablo! Thanks for putting on this amazing show :)

Question: What are you personally most excited about in the future of Blender?

Keep at it Pablo, you are doing an amazing job 💛

HARD SURFACE (HF)

Hi Pablo, what are the most important incoming features for HF modeling (and CAD in general)?

The main problem in HF modeling arise when combining boolean and bevel operator, are there some news to solve it?

Bonus question: vertex groups in Subdivision modifier are needed to avoid adding a lot of extra unwanted geometry, will they ever be implemented?

Extra: look at this feature... non linear creasing (from another sw), very cool!

Josephbburg

Hey Pablo! Got any updates on light groups? I remember reading that they were added along with the new custom AOVs. They're invaluable for lighting characters! Thanks.

When is going to add the 3d brush for the all 3d paint systems?

Hey Pablo! Just a quick comment! The timeline gets annoying due to moving up and down on the vertical axis. When I use a trackpad, i end up having to scroll all the way to the top to find my key frames. Is it possible to turn off vertical scrolling?

Hi Pablo.. i had this bug i guess when i try to look for a folder which has name starting with a dot it is not shown in the file explorer eg (.work) quick test: make a folder with name starting with a dot and look for it in blender file explorer . ( i am on windows 10)

Hey Pablo, What about PBR Texturing like, Substance painter In blender. It is best thing to do to make blender even great again..!!!

vfxwolf

Hey Pablo... just wondering if we could get an update on SELECTIVE LIGHTING in cycles.

andrekling

Hi Pablo, is there plans to add some sort of collections for Bones? bones still use the old layer system, is there plans to update it?

14arianuddin

Hi there Pablo, I just wanted to ask, are there any plans on having the most stable version of Animation Nodes as a built in add-on, I think this might encourage users to use more node based systems which could be great for getting feedback on the everything nodes project later on, what do you think?

Guro

Hey, Pablo, got 2 questions for you:

  1. Any info on implementing a better environment for 3rd party render engines (like C++ api?) w/o needing to use a separate blender fork? Most 3rd party render engines usually use older Blender builds (V-Ray's last update is for Blender 2.79). Adding an environment for 3rd party engines would allow for users to use the render engine plugins with the latest Blender versions w/o needing to wait for an update from the developers.
  2. Are nodes gonna get some love in terms of redesign? Many V-Ray nodes in Blender are missing their settings (N panel in Blender) that are present in V-Ray for Max and Maya. While I do understand that it's Chaos Group's job to implement them, many of those options would technically be impossible to implement in Blender's N panel as far as I understand (Like an RGB curve).

Hello Pablo, for tablet users can u guys add an option to scrub the timeline with a hotkey from any Editor, so i press a shortcut "K" and move my pen left or right and it scrubs, this is much better and faster than grabbing the playhead or using left/right.

AnityEx

hi pablo, animation 2020 news when? :3

also, do you have any tutorials you'd recommend for programming in python for someone who doesn't know anything?, i feel like id like to help blender and level up my use of it through coding

adamsanim8

Hi Pablo not sure if you follow Chad but he has posted some nice RBF Solver code it's for Maya but there is some academic papers, any chance to get an RBF in Blender. Thanks.

Hey, Pablo cool work you guys are doing love the new collection manager! But what's the update with blueprint tool from Pablo Dobaro, Fracture modifier, Interactive mode and animation 2020 projects? Also in terms of anim2020, I still highly suggest blender collaborate with Physics-based animation software Casceduere, I asked on their discord and they said they would be dow to work with you guys. They are still early in the development of their software and it would be awesome to have that integration at the same time blender is looking to remake and improve their animation system.

I love the new work on the Info Panel. It would be great if it were possible to select one or more operations in the Info Panel, and add that specific operation to Quick Favorites!

kookitoome

hey pablo i have question and suggestion

  1. why don't we have some default alphas brushes

2.why not launch the assets manager with an open free creative common only assets store like the one in godot

phillip

Hello Pablo - I applause the effort to reduce the backlog of issues with the Tracker Curfew. Perhaps it does not go far enough, though. There are many issues with Blender as far as user experience which are not bugs, but still need addressing. Just a few examples from a longer list (skip reading these out, if you wish):

  1. In 2.79, when I opened a saved file, it took me right back to where I was, but now it opens to a "default" view in which the object I was working on is usually a tiny dot at the center of the viewport

  2. The Collections model is a great improvement over the Layer system, but why does the outliner default to expanding all the Collections upon opening a saved file, and not maintain itself across workspaces? With a complex scene I could have dozens of Collections, with some having upwards of hundreds of objects (as in a Collection with Cell Fracture objects). Why does Blender not remember what Collections were collapsed or expanded?

  3. Searching for Hot Keys in Preferences: I was baffled for a long time about what happened when I mistakenly and unknowingly hit one of the number keys and everything in the viewport disappeared. I finally figured out that it was the number hotkeys, but searching "1" in the Key Map yielded nothing. I had to search line by line to find what the number keys were attached to (to disable them, of course - they do not toggle, and you cannot easily get back to the view of Collections you started with). Accidentally invoking hot keys is a very easy thing to do in Blender, and needing to know the function of an unknown key combo in order to look it up in the Key Map seems contradictory.

These are not bugs, but they affect the users every day. I am not expecting an "industry standard" User Experience - I am looking for something better. Preferably much better. The likes of Adobe and Autodesk don't need to worry about the front-line minions actually using their products since their sales force can focus on wining and dining corporate purchasing managers instead. And if they feel the heat of as competing product, they can just buy it and shut it down. Blender is not in that position, thankfully, and should focus more on day-to-day issues faced by users.

Hello Pablo. Thx for the awesome job you guys are doing. Maybe you have already had that question but I have not found a clear answer. Will 3DS file make a comeback to blender 2.8?

romboutv

* @ludoviclotoah * I saw your comment and noticed it still there in current 2.82 beta. It seems to be updated to 2.80, so i dont really understand why its not there. Its not there in 2.81, you can get it from the add_contrib folder. Either copy or move it over to the main folder. Then start or refresh blender addons and you be able to use it. But remind when 2.82 comes out, it could be they didnt added it. So make a copy of it so you can add back later.

You can also copy it over to the 2.81 version or use a single blender version to control all addons. I tend to use the last stable release as the main scripts path. That way i dont need to copy over all addons to all versions
