There have been some interesting developments in other softwares. Houdini had a strong showing, from what I understand. Substance Alchemist was teased - which looks like a clone of Quixel Mixer. A weak showing from C4D, with marginal changes to the software, but an exciting mix-up: they've changed their pricing model to a single release and an optional subscription. Still, it's overpriced. Oh, and Unreal is supposed to support C4D files natively. Unreal also announced support for Octane.
Maya has a new nodified Bifrost, taking a cue from Houdini. Also, Autodesk is piloting a new pricing model in a few English-speaking countries, Maya or Max for $250 a year if you make less than $100,000k/year, with some sneaky gotchas that make it much less appealing than it seems: you're automatically signed up to renew at full price (probably laziness, rather than malevolence from AD), your organization can only have ONE user, and you have to give AD the blood of your firstborn son.
I'm sure there's more, didn't follow it too closely this year because I'm sick of the big apps jacking up their prices for minor updates.

That is really interesting from the standpoint of Blender breaking through in the competition. I can't help wondering as Blender continues to mature what is going to happen to their arrogance. It has to be a good thing that Blender has a niche and could affect the industry; especially for smaller studios.
Thanks for the info. I suppose any report on Blender today Monday AM will be verbal, no video. Looks like Blender has a bright future vis a vis the competition. *

* I don't think it could be any clearer that Blender is shaking things up. First Maya copies EEVEE and now they're lowering their prices? That's what happens when they see the writing on the wall.

I'm curious too what happened there. I'm sure that Ton will post a report as in the previous years (

)
@ingapambi - would you change the title of the topic to "Siggraph 2019"? Thank you.
