Shot sculpting in Blender

Hello, Is there any chance we'd get something like "Mush3d" mush3d.com/ in Blender someday? Cheers!

Jacques.

This would be possible in the long term but there are a lot of other things which need to be fixed first. This is basically just sculpting on top of an animated cache such as an Alembic file. But that can't be done until we have sculpting layers in Blender; and we can't have layers until Pablo Dobarro has fixed Multires sculpting (which he is doing now). Hopefully multires will make it into 2.90 but I wouldn't expect layers to be possible until 2.92 or 2.93 so there is a long way to go.

* @johnedwardcox * Thank you for the info! Pablo is already doing a great job with the sculpting tools... Who knows maybe someday... I think that can be so useful when dealing with extreme deformations in animation.

Well, I don't think so. Blender is Blender and got its own tools, Blender is not developed for copying programs. Mush 3D is a complete software, that works different from Blender. Rearranging Mush 3D in a way that you can "copy" it to Blender is too comlicated. Don't forget that there are other big projects too.

AND: If you want to propose new features, do this on Right Click Select

SO: All you can hope for is an addon to import data from Mush 3D.

* @Blender Defender * Thank you! I agree, Blender needs to stay Blender... I know Mush3D is complete software and understand what you mean. At the same time, there're tools in Blender such as the "Sculpting" which is much more advanced that what we can find in other package and could almost in the future be even better than complete software such as "Mudbox". There's also "Compositing" which I don't know much at all but... Could it also be compared to other full compositing package?

* @Blender Defender * Hi! It's not about copying other sw, but just implement the possibility to do shot sculpting that is a pretty common task. It would be great to modify geometry after loading cache data.

* @gianlucasalerno.gs * You're right, doing common 3D Tasks should be possible in Blender, but trying to copy software (like you could easily think reading this post)

is still neither possible nor the goal of Blender. So I think we're both right in some sense.

Hi, I made an account just to comment on this..

I actually think Blender would be a perfect place to implement shotsculpting. Mush3d performance speed is insane, the fact that it's a stand-alone software surely plays a big part. Some of the beauty of Mush3d comes from how quick the software is, but Blender is not too shabby. I'd love for someone to take on this kind of project.
