Cycles with caustics finally! (early development)
Yep, great news, the patch of cycles with caustics is finally being developed and ready to try .
The description of the patch and demofiles: developer.blender.org/D13533
(extremly experimental, its on the first days of development)
The patch is in builder.blender.org/download/patch/
(yes, you dont need to compile blender to test it what is really great)
Speciall thanks to Juan Gea (Bone-studio) for the information ;)

NMEE technique? Looks nice and fast. However I hope we will see path guiding (so we could have reflected caustics and out of shadow area caustics)- and if it will have support for volumetric caustics with dispersion that would be <3 Also wondering will cycles-x support for openvdb deformation motion blur (for dynamic meshes) - when using mantaflow with openvdb - deformation motion blur isn't working - also importing dynamic liquid or smoke / fire simulations from third party software with openvdb doesn't seem to support deformation motion blur :/ Flip Fluids had some problems to support motion blur because of Blender's API i guess.
I am just little bit concerned/worried from these small "problems"/limitations because there is so much good 3rd party addons (under development) like github.com/zenustech/zenoblend and github.com/taichi-dev/taichi_elements or even flipfluids but which can't support motion blur because of these limitations (?)- even openvdb import isn't solution (especially when using volumetrics - but also dynamic meshes doesn't have motion blur even when openvdb could offer needed data)
Its in early development, the first commit was just some days ago so all this bugs are expected. Generally they dont release so soon this really experimental features, but it was so cool that they compiled it to blender . org .
Also that helps to report some bugs from external developers, also a great thing.
So yes, we cant ask for so much at something that was first commited days ago and its predicted it will need some months to have less bugs
And even when it was first build (early proto/experimental build) - it did work pretty well in my first tests:
