Blender's lack of a 'Local Y Axis' extrude option
Hello everyone,
I'm a huge Blender fan. I've been using it for years now and I am very confident and comfortable using it. That being said, I also took my time to learn Maya and in doing so I realized a few things (For instance how much I prefer Blender but that's a different topic) such as features I believe Blender could hugely benefit from. Seeing the development and community services involving it makes me feel like I can suggest something I feel that is missing and dearly needed so that hopefully a developer could take a look at it and maybe add it into a build.
So here I am. I do apologize if this is not the right place to bring this up but:
As much as I love Blender, it is not infallible and everything has a weak point. Recently one of the things that have been bothering me when modeling is the lack of what I believe is called 'Local Axis Extrusion'(?) when it comes to edges. I'm honestly not sure what it is called or what it really does behind the scenes but this is what Maya calls it.
Here is an example of how Blender tackles the issue vs Maya .
I believe Blender could really benefit from this feature as all of the workarounds at the moment are very inconvenient and sometimes unusable in certain situations (curved surfaces especially).
Thanks for hearing me out!
