Blender 2.8 - Emit particle's color by Vertex attribute?

Hi, last year, I´ve found that 2.79 can´t do what the title of this post says. I've delivered a video here: youtu.be/W3CdGfv4DxQ With 2.8 in the horizon, can this be possible now? -To emit particle's color based off the vertex attribute (paint color)? Thanks.

I imagine the only possible solution would be to "cheat" blender by creating vertex groups and using them as "filters" for the emitter's filtering. That would be a work around, and certainly not what we are looking for. What it is required is that a particle inherits it´s emitter color (vertex color to be exact).

Currently one can select the "material" for the emitted particle here on the settings, but if the material needs to be picked up from the vertex color, there is no way to do that (this screenshot is from 2.8): Image
