Scripted Modifier: Feature Request

Has the development team thought about some implementing some kind of (Python) Scripted modifier, just on the line of Geometry Node modifier?

This could basically have input and outputs just as the Geo Node but the logic would be encapsulated in python script rather than in the nodes. Since most of the APIs are already implemented in python, the infrastructure for core functionality is already available (in contrast with Geo Node, where each python API needs to be replicated in the form of a node).

The input / output structure could have fields like: name, type, value, min, max, default

The actual modifier function (something like execute of an add-on Operator) can return any type of bpy.data.objects (equivalent of Geometry output of Geo Node).

This could be a very powerful thing, IMHO.

I think it was thought about, but isn't currently on the todo list cause python is too slow to run over many verticies. Nevertheless it would be super cool!
