Should we expect for blender to slow down with further updates/additional upgrades?

Hello guys. Just want to ask a quick question. I have been using 2.80 and 2.81 a lot recently and currently switched to 2.82. I have observe some significant change in performance especially in the edit mode and modifiers. 2.82 seems to be slower compared to 2.81 and 2.80.

Is there currently a fix being worked on or this would just be a close to normal scenario considering the up coming/future updates?

Thank you.

I don't think it's a problem with the amount of polys Blender can handle, because it seems to be able to handle quite a bit. It's the multires and SubD modifiers which are slow. If I have a character at SubD level 1 it slows down considerably. However, if I subdivide the polygons(non-modifier) the joints can be moved around easily and smoothly. Even subdividing another level doesn't slow it down. So it looks like the modifiers need improvement.

* @adrencg * I mighr have noticed it also. I always opt to subdiv modifier because its non destructive, including the bevel modifier.

As any software progresses it generally requires more processing power, but specifically for high-poly meshes, I think there's a plan to significantly improve edit mode performance in the next few updates to get it somewhere close to where it was in version 2.79, since the switch to 2.80 introduced lots of slowdown.

* @spenserwilliamsco * You are right. Almost any significant software updates tend to slowdown a little bit.

Would definitely be nice to atleast improve the speed at least similar to 2.80.

* @spenserwilliamsco * Acording to latest Blender Today (a weekly show showing what happened in that last week), Dalai (one of blender devs) said we should be looking forward to some multires news. Also, take a look at the blog post on code.blender.com about future updates, there's also some info about it. I think we might see it in 2.83. :)
