Proximity Add-on , vertex proximity and tension to weights
UPDATE:The geometry nodes version has mostly replaced this addon- otrealms.gumroad.com/l/tension-weights
------------------------------ OLD -------------------------------
Hi Blender community,
I’d like to share an add-on I made recently. It was originally to debug collisions between vertices of a single mesh. However it quickly grew to include compression and stretch mapping and can even be used for blood mapping.
Note this is in no way directly influenced by the Tension add-on which I hadn’t used before making this (not at least since about 5 yrs ago). I have tried it since however. Both work pretty differently.
On one hand my addon requires you to use geometry nodes to convert vertex groups to vertex colours, this is intentional as I think it is more flexible and perhaps even faster. On the other hand you’ll need to manually create vertex groups and colour groups.
There aren’t any major limitations regarding modifiers (obviously remesh won't yield results).

The link doesn't work. This link does: github.com/OtherRealms/Proximity
Cheers, looks like it got combined with the image link
UPDATE: This was replaced in most part with this geometry nodes tension weights preset. otrealms.gumroad.com/l/tension-weights
Does anyone know how to convert weights into vertex colors in 3.0? I havent had any luck using the new fields.
