Oi, Pablo! been a while!

I do have a few quick questions: now that 3.6, and therefore hiprt is in LTS, when can we expect opendata/hiprt test files? any news on physics systems? I noticed there's still no bevel node in geo nodes? it's an oddity- bevel is hugely important, and the math behind it is non-negligible!

Hola Pablo!

In 3.5 it was introduced, when hoivering on area lights gizmos, X/Y axis constraint projects.blender.org/blender/blender/commit/275d69467be508d3846c03b9d9bdc44ad02e550f . This was made in order to be able to scale lights non-uniformly with the light gizmo. The thing is, while the UI is there, they still scale uniformly. Why this was introduced if 2 versions later the functionality it's still not there?

Dear Pablo,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to bring up a topic that I previously discussed on Right-Click Select. Although it was marked as "Done," I'm still having trouble understanding or finding a solution to my issue.

In Blender, there is a convenient way to modify multiple objects simultaneously by holding down the ALT key. However, this method doesn't seem to work when dealing with multiple textures in the shading process. Specifically, when using PBR textures, which typically require the Non-color (Color space), I encounter a problem.

Let's say I select multiple image textures and attempt to change their properties all at once by holding down ALT, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have any effect.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance with this matter.

Hello Pablo I hope you are having a good day. I would like to know if you have any idea if there is any plan to improve the modeling tools. In other programs like cinema , maya , 3ds max there are certain tools that facilitate the modeling process , an example of these in a tool that depending on the program has different name but in general do something similar which is to make loop cuts but unlike blender that can only make a cut in the middle of an edge this tool does it where the cursor is in addition to other very useful features. These tools were adapted in most of the 3d modeling programs.

Like this tool there are several that have functionalities in selection , mesh fill , retopology tools that are quite necessary because blender doesn't have tools really comparable with other programs, etc. My point is that these type of tools that are more basic process, for some time I have not seen that they have had some kind of attention in the updates. Within the priorities in the development of blender this type of updates that priority would have? could we expect any improvement in this area in 4.0?

Any updates, hopes, teases, info or plans for a Blur Node in shader editor sometime in the future?

Hi, Pablo. Congrats to the team for releasing 3.6!

Not a question but I found this use case of Blender interesting to share!

Critical in being able to release Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on time was the emphasis placed on previs and postvis. “After finishing shooting,” comments Wright, “we did a version of the film through Blender rendered in Eevee with motion blur, depth of field, proper tracks, and integrated the characters into the live-action photography. An in-house team of 10 to 14 people produced well over 12,000 versions of shots [within a period of 12 to 14 weeks] that went into editorial and allowed the creative team to come up with a cut of the movie that didn’t throw MPC off track. This was critical in allowing the film to get completed by the absolute skin of our teeth.”

Hi there! Motion Graphics without text animation isn't motion graphics at all. Geometry nodes are already in the right direction, but why not make it even better? Currently there are no kerning tools for the String to Curves node. But we can do character kerning with the traditional Text Object. Why not combine the traditional Text tool and the geometry nodes version of it? You can read Text Objects form inside geometry nodes either as Mesh or Curves (if you choose the "None" fill option). It would be extremely useful if the geometry coming from the classic Text tool could come in as instances instead. That way we could combine the great kerning abilities of the traditional Text Object with the flexibility geometry nodes for animation. Also, a Line index number for the text Tool attribute would be great.

Hello Pablo Thank you for your incredible videos.

I don't know if this is blender related but the button for changing the avatar picture in blender.community is broken

Hey there Pablo, hope you're doing fine :)

I have a question on the development of Geometry Nodes. Why are users still expected to handle standard tasks like filling holes around open edges, calculating normal orientation to point toward the outside etc with already available low level nodes? Why are these simple tasks still not addressed though low level nodes of their own or presets? I've looked far and wide and people are still struggling to construct a working setup that does what the Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside operator does. Will the need for such nodes or presets be addressed any time soon?

Cheers :)

Hi Pablo, hope you're well! We haven't heard anything about the bevel node that has been being worked on for a long time. Enjoyed the talk on it at the Blender conference and wondered if there was any new developments with it?

Hey Pablo, hope you're having a great day!! Massive congrats to the Blender team for 3.6 release.

This isn't a question, but I would like to share some stuff to the Blender community. Bungie (creator of Halo, Destiny) is using Blender as a part of their asset creation workflow for their new game Marathon, link - twitter.com/xanzuls/status/1664328552542609408 / twitter.com/ArtOfPilgrim/status/1661721798558339072 Video Link - youtu.be/Zrv0dpztryY . Nice to see Blender being used in big productions as well.

What's exactly the reason behind not implementing the most highest voted top RCS post of all time? I'm so confused because it's more than 4 years old yet still not implemented but it says 'under development'.

Also, would there be like a reel showcase video for 4.0 because even tho the release notes on Blender website are the best of it's kind I've ever seen, IMPO, videos like the reel showcases make a lot more difference when it comes to reaching to more and wider audience through YT, reaching to other DDC users and just makes it more compelling for new artists to get interested in Blender.

Also, it's been more than 2 years since CyclesX came out and It had a complete revamp from Kernel to everything so it would be amazing to have a updated Official CyclesX reel as well. The last one is from 2016.
