How do you decide if something should stay as an add-on, or if it should be incorporated directly into blender? For example, why isn't Node Wrangler part of Blender?
* @jon * good question, Node Wrangler could be a core feature
* @jon * Really good question ! I think some addon should be incoporated into blender. It will be more smooth and more stable maybe.
* @jon * you just confuse with definitions. Blender app design consists of compiled and interpreted source. For example, Node Wrangler works good enough as python module. Everything, including addons_contrib, is part of Blender )
Hi Pablo! Any reason why any of the tabs in the Properties Editor don't have a search bar at the top? Like this:
Sometimes there's to many Properties to sift through.
* @cooreets *
It would be convenient to also have a search bar on the Active Tools & Workspace Settings > Workspace expandable menu > Filter addons.
If a user has plenty of addons, it can be annoying to search for a particular addon to show/hide.
Hello Pablo, I want to ask about the "viewport compositing". People told me that you have mentioned this viewport compositing feature in one of the previous Blender Today chapters, is that true? Where can we see its state of development and where can we find more info about it?
Hi Pablo, are there any ongoing discussions / plans among the devs about allowing third party developpers to create their own editors with python?
Thanks!
* @Ryxx * i actually would want to see this
Hey pablo can we expect multires and undo fixes for 2.83
Any update on this bug?

Hey Pablo! What do you think about an idea to infuse Instant Meshes remesher github.com/wjakob/instant-meshes instead of quadriflow? Tests show it's more precise, fast and feature rich.
* @Yegor Smirnov * Quadriflow is actually based on Instant Meshes. And I find Quadriflow faster and more precise. More details here: stanford.edu/~jingweih/papers/quadriflow/quadriflow.pdf
But I agree Quadriflow implementation could use some features of Instant Meshes software.
Hi Pablo! The title of the live stream made me jump out of my pants! O_o
Three questions this time:
Is it possible to implement "Elastic Deform" algorithm from Sculpt mode as "Proportional editing" in edit mode?
Is it a bug or a feature, when you merge together 2 vertices with different Vertex Weights, the result is transferred from one of the vertices instead of averaging weights?
Is it a bug or a feature that Falloff menu in Sculp mode has another dropdown menu inside, while the same menu in Edit mode doesnt?
Thanks a lot for the answers and have a good week!
* @damian winnichenko *
developer.blender.org/D6281
* @damian winnichenko * In regards to Vertex Weight it's not a bug however nor is it a feature. I did a bit of debugging and discovered the logic. The weights for the newly merged vertex is obtained by the first vertex from the vertex Array that is selected. This means if you select vertices 2, 13, 50, 82, 83, 84 the newly merged vertex will always get the weight from vertex 2 no matter how you select or merge vertices.
This brings up the idea of a feature request that takes the Selection order and Merge type into account in order to assign a weight that makes more intuitive sense. In fact, I have made a proposal for it here blender.community/c/rightclickselect/zsfbbc/
Hi Pablo,
do you know current state and recent plans of Multi Resolution?
Any news about new quick effets, Like snow and firework?
Hey Pablo give Eevee some love .. :) i need that Particle age in Eevee :)
Hi Pablo, Is there any plans to implement outliner like features for rig layers?
Hello Pablo thank you for your incredible videos, I look forward to this every single week.
2 quick questions.
If I'm an edit mode and I press the paint select button, I can no longer rotate the viewport? this is a huge pain because I almost always need to select more components.
Can you guys please, please disable the default backface selection? By that I mean if I want to select through something I have to enter x-ray mode. This is completely tedious, I've never used another program that works like this. It's extra annoying because entering x-ray mode makes things even harder to see. Please just let us select by default through the mesh if we want.
* @Danny husk *
Hi Danny, I wrote a small script that you can use as a workaround, while we are waiting for this feature to be properly implemented in Blender.
There are some instructions how to install it and add it to your keymap.
Blender 3.0? And it's not called "Blender Alyx"? I don't believe it!
Hi! I just like to raise the awareness around the " ~ " based shortcuts. This character is not universal enough. In many country the " ~ " is accessible true a combination.
example: hungarian: [Alt Gr] + [ 1 ] , spanish: [Alt] + [Graph] + [ 4 ]
I think the default keymap should use universally accessible buttons.
Hi Pablo, In Edit Mode, Is there a way to select through Geometry without seeing the Geometry behind?
* @fink.marco * Alt-RCS and choose from the menu?
* @Ivo * sorry i expressed myself not well enough. I am referring to Danny husk (Two Threads above) who is mentioning exactly what i wanted to say. Select through option is distracting
Hi, guys! Do you planning to add Linux repository for LTS updates? Or Blender git for compiling only stable updates?
Hey guys, awesome news! Question: Are you coming to FMX this year again?
Hi guys! Nice look! =)
Any plans on making cloth sim calculations on GPU instead of CPU? (might be optional as well as in Cycles)
Hi, Pablo and Dalai! Editing meshes with modifiers, especially the subsurf, is currently very slow. I was wondering... can we expect improvements in edit mode?
Hi Pablo and Dalai! AMD will soon introduce new GPU with realtime raytracing support. Do they share any information for Blender developers to quickly implement support for new GPUs as soon as possible (raytracing acceleration/denoising)?
Nvidia already has advantage (Optix). Would AMD also have similar instruments inside Blender? Also what about realtime raytracing in EEVEE?
Will the LTS auto update from snap store for Linux users that use that version download method? I love the blender choice to LTS certain blender. versions.
Please do not make the short sprint releases any less stable because there is an LTS version. Thanks!
hey pablo I heard Andrew price say that blender will absorb e-cycles render improvements into blender. he said this on a interview with the flipped normals guys is this true and if so when?
Yo waht's poppin' Pablo & Dalai my Guys? What are the plans for the texture editor? I'm thinking it would be gnarly to make it into a Substance Designer type replacement for generating textures that can be plonked into the shader editor.
Pablo we need a way to hotkey the rotation of the studio HDRI lighting
Hi, Pablo. Shouldn't this be on high propority? developer.blender.org/T68873 It seems weird to me that 2.7x sculpt performance was significantly better than 2.8x considering the attention it's receiving by Dobarro and the community in general. Thanks.
Morning Pablo 2.83 is shaping up to be a real banger, Any decisions on animation 2020? Also, would the foundation consider working with cascedeur physics-based animation software to help implement each other into their workflows their still in beta and making waves I highly suggest the foundation try to talk with them I asked them and they said they would work with you guys.
Hey Pablo! You're doing great, I'm very grateful for every single video released from blender today! I had a question (probably disguised as a feature request) But would it be possible to create an addon that allows you to copy paste images from the internet into the blender viewport? I know you can left click drag images from your desktop to your viewport but it would be nice to get it directly from your clipboard!
Hello pablo, When will the 2.83 release ? for June or later ? And I've another question : Do you think blender will come at the front of the scene ? in front of Maya ?
Salam Pablo! Can we have better performance with shape-keys? they can be used alot in animation OR as a sculpt layer in sculpting. Also looking forward for better multires and undo!
Hi Pablo, I'm working currently on a scene with high particles count and rendering takes forever because of "Updating Objects Flags". It maxes one CPU thread and takes about 50min per frame (just rendering takes about 1 minute).
Is it possible to make this process multithreaded? It would be a huge time saver :D
* @Michal Wieczorek * a new particle system is in progress but it takes time..
Hi Pablo, in the Nodevember 2019 we saw the great possibilities of the vector displace node. Unfortunately the vector displace bake is still not a priority and it's impossible to make it without a paid solution. Is there any news on this. Thanks
* @jemian * can you please make a detailed post including pictures in rightclickselect? It's really hard to imagine for me what exactly your problem is
Do you know what's it's baking?. Actually cycle can't bake nor displacement map nor displacement vector map. To bake a displacement vector map you have to buy Zbrush. There's no cheaper solution.
* @jemian * bakelab is free and bakes vectordisplacement, also it lets you convert the displaced mesh into a "fixed mesh" to edit vertices in the displaced shape. youtube.com/watch
* @office * He does have a displacement bake, but I don't see a Vector displacement bake.
* @jemian * watch the video and you see how its done.
* @office * Okay, I almost believed it, but he only bake what comes out of the displace vector node. I can't bake a sculpture.
* @jemian * can you give an example what you mean with "bake a sculpture"? do you mean bake the difference between a mesh, and the same mesh with sculpted details? or bake high res to a lowres mesh?
* @office * Yes, bake the details of a high resolution sculpture to a low resolution version. We can bake small details with a displace map but for bigger details it's very ugly. The displace will only move the Z of the mesh while the Vector Displace map will move Z and also X and Y. It's a bit like making a bump map when you could make a normal map. This map is very important for the quality. It can also be used to optimize a big scene for LOD by adapting the resolution to the proximity of the camera.
Hi Pablo, hope ur doing well.
Sometimes scenes get too huge and performance drops. What workflow would u use to handle big Scenes well ? Are there plans on your side to improve the code to handle bigger scenes better ?
Hola, Pablo! I have tracked clip with about 150 tracks and graph editor become very slow. It'll be cool to optimize it performance.
Hi Pablo. Is there a way to modify Alt+click shortcut in order to change parameters of more than 1 object? Otherwise in Linux we need to tweak the system alt+click to grab a window.
Hi Pablo! ChaosGroup Vray For Blender 3.0?
Hi Pablo!
When STORYBOARD Tab is ready to use? Like to start the animation projects and compare to shots scene
When will sRGB be fixed for Cycles? Because of viewport render color and output for jpg or png files differ a lot. When or how will it be fixed? Thank you a lot for doing the best for Blender
add game logic again
add game logic again
why u not add game logic again
Hi Blenders! I need to Know whem is STORYBOARD tab inblender Gracias
Hi guys ! Firstly thank you for your hard work ! Is there plans to introduce new UV tools to Blender ? And fast macros creation ?
add game logic
add game logic again
Hi, why AO node is not supported by optix? its just a bug?
do you think we gonna have V-ray or Corona engin in the future or any major update to cycles?
Blender should open multiple projects in a single session.
Hello ;) is there any way to switch brush radius to grab to center not the left? it is problem when you use screen tablet cuz you cover brush size with hand ;/
Hi Pablo, is there a plan to implement Shader to RGB to Cycles? It would be very useful
Just to tell you, background music in stream were cool, it lack of background music now.
Hi, could you add support for AMD GCN1 7xxx GPUs in Cycles which was discontinued in Blender 2.78?
Will we see C++ API support? That seems like one of the biggest things to hold back blender from directly competing with Autodesk suites on the field of massive scenes and studio workflow.
The problem with Blender is not its too fast pace, but lack of a guide that explains the latest version (=the latest features) as a continuous narrative. For example, the chapter on sculpting should describe all the brushes completely; and also highlight the similarities and differences. It should explain which brush to use, when.
And when new features arrive, the guide should be continually updated so that the narrative is not broken.
Since 2.8 GUI is completely revamped, it deserves to have a new guide that is a cross between a reference manual (which describes just the controls) and a user manual (which describes how to use those controls as a set).
Will Blender starting from 3.0 use semantic versioning ?
edit: I checked the blog post and it doesn't look like it.
I use a tablet to sculpt with and have my spacebar set to open Tools. In sculpt mode after pressing space bar the brush menu appears and reacts to gesture. If I slightly move my hand I am selecting a brush an menu is gone requiring me to press spacebar multiple times till I have my hand still enough to select the correct brush. Is there a way to disable the gesture in the tools menu while using tablet to force activation to selection instead of gesture?

Hi Pablo Which UV's features are you planning in 2.83? Thank you
