Makes sense. When your production software is available to every artist on the planet for free, your pool of talent to pull from is incredibly large. As apposed to being minimized to ONLY the artists that can afford schooling or the closed source products.
Will be really cool to see how fast blender will be improved and in what areas.
* @erroll * absolutely, and when universities and othere education platforms stop promoting autodesk and others as the industry standard and teach multiskilled people then everyone wins especially those who want to use blender
great news! finally the bigger guns are starting to see the benefit of open source and blender. i hope the tools that these companies share it with the community for free, i'm seeing too many tools being sold, but also so many great tools and new people sharing for free as well.
WOw this is great news!!!
Edit: never mind, the link works now and the article is back
I can't seem to find the article on the Ubisoft website... has it been taken down for some reason?
* @alisealy * news.ubisoft.com/en-us/article/353364/Ubisoft-Joins-Blender-Development-Fund-to-Support-Open-Source-Animation
* @gary.parris * thank you for sharing the link. When I tried that URL earlier I got only a blank page and a "not found" message, but it seems to work now
That's more great news :)
I totally agree.
Sexy news!
