Hello Pablo, I have a question about physics performance. I'm a Biochemist and I'm trying to do complex molecular animations using blender rigid body collisions. Is Blender using GPU for the physics calculations or is it only CPU, and if only CPU should I favor a very powerful mono-CPU or is multicore better for that ? Do you think work will be done to implement GPU calculations for physics in the futur ?

Also, I don't understand how is the Molecular Script addon so much more powerfull than the vanilla Blender collision system for big simulations like this one : youtu.be/fDD4jmQk9R8 Couldn't blender integrate that script as it's defaut way of calculation collisions ? Thanks a lot for your time !

Hello Pablo and rest of the team!

I have quick question about fast highpoly mesh editing. From what I understand this is a regression from 2.79 and it is considered a major project. We haven't got any update on this issue for 8 months. And from Big Blender Projects for 2021 it looks like it's not going to change any time soon.

Highpoly editing, even after all this time, is still generating user interest as you can see on phabricator: developer.blender.org/T73360

Are you not afraid that pushing new features like Geometry Nodes and similar without fixing underlying issues will result in big amount of technological debt that might stifle Blender development in the future?

I think good example of handling that kind of things from recent history would be fixing undo. It's not perfect right now, but it's a lot better than was before. Bastien's effort was worth it. And he is still looking into improving undo while working on library overrides and other things.

Hi Pablo, and all the Blender development team!

It might be sound like a future request, although, a quite needful feature.

I think, Geometry node modifier also need a special mode that would treat all it's instances as a real geometry. In that case, users could add other modifiers on top, like remesh, shrinkwrap, etc.

how it could be used? One of the many examples is a tree or ivy generator.

thanks for reading!

Hello Pablo! Thank you for all that you do. I've been out of the loop for quite a while now and was wondering what happened to the "Animation 2020" focus for Blender? Has some of it been implemented already, has it postponed? What else from that revamp is planned for the near future? Is there anything planned for rigging? Thanks!

Hello Pablo How about hair? Is there any progress with the Hair Dynamics? By the way I like Blender Today live very much. gr P

Hey Pablo, I am thinking about starting a /rightclickselect for the godot engine, is the website code foss. If it is, is it on github?

Hi Pablo, Hope you are doing well.

If it's not much hassle then Can we add keys to the origins of the object? I know it's a feature request. Sorry about that. But It can help animators a lot while doing animations.

Hi Pablo!

Do you know if Joseph Eager is still actively working on the new mesh type for Dyntopo? Or is it already done?

Hi Pablo:

A couple of days ago I found this guy on youtube claiming that he can bake vector displacement maps in cycles without addons just using the default nodes. I've made several test with blender and it seems to work, pic related, and I think it was the main reason to not add vector displacement maps to the brushes in sculpt mode. it is not a bug really and I suppose it could be part of the bake todo list too but I don't know .

Hello Pablo. Is there any chance anyone at Blender is thinking of making a face rigging course for the Blender Cloud? For over a year I’ve been scrounging through the internet trying to find a good, from scratch, face rigging resource for Blender. I tried watching the first hundred search results on YouTube, Googling courses, DMing riggers, and asking around on Blender forums. Nothing I’ve found can even come close to matching the quality, complexity or completeness of Blender’s official rigs. For a software that is capable of so much, it seems that it is nearly impossible for a user to unlock it’s full potential; given the lack of resources. The only reason I’ve put so much time and energy into trying to find such guides is because how much I love and want to stay in Blender.
So if it's not already on the docket, I beg for someone at Blender to consider making a course on the subject. Finally creating a direct line of resources that can take you from knowing nothing about 3D or Blender to making high quality animation. Thanks for hearing me out.

Hey Pablo, happy Monday! I noticed way back in the December Tuesday Talk log that there was a very interesting note under the Nodes and Physics section, which seems to have gone unnoticed...

"For January the goal is to present either a prototype for real-time (interactive) fluids or a design doc with a plan of attack"

...am I reading it wrong or does this mean Sebbas is working on a realtime mantaflow smoke (and liquid) implementation?! :)

Hi Pablo, first let me say you do a great job with the show! But i also have a question for you: Daniel Bystedt mentioned in your show that UV improvements are planned. Do you know if a proper packing-algorythm is going to be implemented and maybe the ability to pack into a specified region (By drawing a box for example) ? I know about UV-packmaster but this funtionality is so basic that i am thinking if this should not be implemented in blender vanilla since it is standard on other toolsets and does seem to be alot of juice for little squeeze. Another question would be if batchbaking PBR and Eevee-baking is planned at some point? Keep up the great work and kiss Ton from me after the pandemic :* You guys are amazing!
