A Shocking discovery around pbr materials

Earlier I made a tutorial on YouTube regarding calibrating your exposure or lighting before designing materials. (I know I could make a bit a fancier video). That tutorial had barely any attention. I posted it also on Blenderartists, again with barely some attention.

Today I decided to do a test. I bought pbr shaders and compared that to the shaders I designed in a calibrated environment. And the result is shocking. Really shocking:

The shaders designed in a calibrated environment:

And here below the shaders I bought (or any pbr shader / textures you can find on the internet): Image

Now, what I want is not any gain, but I hope for the Blender community there could be some more awareness. Here some tips:

  • If you know more about this subject, let us know.
  • You could make a tutorial, or if you think my video or post is ok, share or like that.
  • Or otherwise.

I posted these screenshots also on Blenderartists

I hope some Blender-heads will do something with it. The second render is pretty ugly, not? Do we want to have that associated with Blender?
