Measuring tools in Blender

I so wish we had a robust dimension system in Blender. Archimesh and MeasureIT and the even the Measure tool are a great start. Something that works just like other CAD programs, letting you click directly on a measurement and edit text, anchor point, etc, etc. It SEEMS like a simple ask- but I would not know.

So much of what we do starts from real world objects and measurements. For as much creativity as Blender gives us, this one area is so lacking.
