Excuse me,
How do I switch out from holding the knife tool to the pointer
in Edit Mode ?

Ok I'm going to go out on a limb here. Here is the problem I'm having, besides trying to read, watch videos about how to use blender, textures etc.
I start with a empty rotate it on the x and x axis 90 degrees.
I load an object file/pic
I select to build a plane rotate it same as above - solid
I reduce it size around the image, but making it a little larger then the image.
I choose wireframe, press tab
go in edit mode and get the knife . I cut around the edges until all the image is
cut.
I then pull out the frame I cut out and ALT+f e then extrude it out.
I have a solid.
How do I apply the same image I cut out on to it ?
I've tried many different ways, but the finished product either doesn't fit
and its very opaque. the image I'm using is 1500 x 1500 pixels and its of good
photo quality.
I also would like to use a bump map on it as well to increase the texture quality.
I've used GIMP to make a bump map but the image looks the same after the
process..? I'm missing a driver ?

ok I'll give that a try.
I've seen a Blender video where the host typed Ctrl, z but It wiped out all the
knife vertices.
Thanks

Most Windows programs (and Blender) use Ctrl+z to UNDO an action.
In Blender you can use Ctrl+Shift+z to REDO
