Any Mac-Blender users out there using a 3D mouse? Sure would like some advice on what works.

A friend of mine is using the 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Compact, and seems pretty happy with it.
Native support in Blender 👍

Really? I'm having difficulty getting some features to work. One pan direction only works and the buttons have no life.*

* Keymaps have to be set in Blender itself, not in the 3DConnection application. This is quite annoying, because Blender misses some of the nice features that come with the 3DConnections app like custom pie-menus..
