Could texture resolution in the material preview view be simplified?
It would be helpful if the texture resolution in the material preview view could also be simplified. Now only the texture resolution in the render view can be simplified while the texture resolution in the material preview view cannot. Therefore, when there are many large texture resolutions in the scene, the material preview view can become more laggy than the render view.

Texture size for material preview and solid mode can be limited in the user preferences. It isn’t added as a scene option as it more related to your system than the scene.
Thanks bro, I've found that option lol, u've saved me!
Though IMHO it would absolutely make sense to have that option in the Simplify panel for Eevee, and I reckon it would affect the solid and material view accordingly or something. Or something else if anyone has a more elegant idea, but it would be nice to have a unique place to look up for such things.
Basically, the same way in Cycles: I'd definitely love to have quick access to different resolutions in viewport and render, no matter the render engine or shading mode.
It's been requested a few times as well:
Yes, but it should be in both places. One is a scene setting, other is a userpreference. Eg you have 2 machines, one beefy, otherone not. You still want to load huge scenes on the lower end system. I would accept such a change where the minimum texture resolution of both would be used.
When user pref is set to 512 and the scene limit to 2048 it would still load the textures into a 512 sized gpu texture.
How do you know the issue is from the texture resolution?
Hmmm, because I know it will be laggy in the material preview view when I open a few blend with many polygons and textures, but not in the render view (just slow but not very laggy)
To add, when I hide many meshes with different textures (just some planes with different materials), the material preview viewport didn't lag. I‘m not sure why there's not an option to simplify the texture resolution in the material preview viewport. :(((
