Blur Node in Shader Editor
Can we please get a blur node. I am tired of using noise with extremely high value. Also some other basic nodes are missing like edge detect, etc.

I have an idea for a different approach: having a node for blurring any input would be ideal but unachievable due to the nature of pathtracing, but we could at least have a blur feature for image textures as a slider in the node. The images in shader get loaded into memory, so they could be blurred on the fly and loaded into memory as usual. This could take a short and reasonable amount of preprocessing time. Maybe this could be food for another (almost duplicate) proposal on this site.
you can do this already: blenderartists.org/t/stochastic-blur-with-eevee-and-white-noise-in-2-81/1187997
* @atair * I know about this but its an indirect solution. What i wanted was a blur node. I mean it'd be helpful since we don't have to recreate it everytime
Yeah i would wish that, have an input to set the amount of gausian smoothing. Lately i had to do an effect with a slowly smooth, and had to explain to my custommer that this is not easy todo with Blender.
The workaround I used (and how this node internally might work). I used color mix nodes and created serveral smooth level static pictures Then on screen i animated the mixing of those images. Prooving as well that this does not have to take a lot of samples. This work around mixing creating additional images ea takes quite some time i was "lucky" that I had to do it for 30 pictures... :(
Blur node is probably not going to happen, unless you want to use thousands of samples just for blurring. twitter.com/bartekmoniewski/status/980855127870459905 twitter.com/BartekMoniewski/status/1245161262113337344
Node setup for bluring, if you want to see for yourself, how slow blurring would be: twitter.com/LucaRood/status/1245414574465208326
* @rc12 * You dont need 1000 samples a few mix nodes andd several blur level images are enough though yuo'll have to generate those outside blender,
* @peter.boos * Images can be blurred and saved with the compositor, I was talking about texture nodes, like noise, musgrave, etc. Most peope want to blur procedural textures when they say blur node, but its very inefficient to do in cycles.

Damn I love this community. I didn't expect so many answers so I didn't explain what I meant. What I was talking about are nodes used for making materials and textures used in shader editor and not compositor. Actually what I wanted more is to make something similar to substance designer nodes because they have a group of really useful nodes while its easier to recreate it in blender(and sometimes not) wouldn't it be better to provide premade nodes for those stuff.
This is a duplicate suggestion.
Blur node in Shader
* @ammusionist * I have seen that suggestion but I thought we could submit proposals here to add more features to blender. I am sorry if I am mistaken I am new here.
* @souvikbiswas980 * As people vote on requests, putting in a duplicate request means the votes get split between the two and neither gets all the votes the suggestion deserves.
The point of my reply is that someone has already suggested this idea and it is better for the idea if you upvote it there and comment on it.
