Selective save/export
Hello everyone. I think data should be saved/exported selectively, in example, it should be possible to only export nodes, or a subset of a scene, etc.
Thanks in advance for your 2 cents.

Most exporters already offer the option to just export the selected item. However, out of curiosity, what's the use case for selective saves to .blend files when you can easily append or link data (selectively) from any existing .blend file?
* @Jason van Gumster * Let's pretend you want to share (for yourself or with the world) let's say a shader node, to use it again, but you also put some video clips in the VSE. In order to recall what have you done, you should name it something like 'cool-video_and_shader.blend', while you could just export 'my_cool-shader.blend'
* @chicochetal * I can see that. I typically do it from the other side. That is, I'll start a new Blender session and append the datablock I want to an otherwise blank .blend file.
* @Jason van Gumster * It's a valid workaround, but it could be improved
The current way this is handled is, delete whatever you don't want and save as a blend. But I wish the save menu had the option to "Save Selected to .blend" .
* @Josephbburg * not selected only, think about a node preset, in eg.
* @chicochetal * Maybe this feature could be added to the outliner? This might be an elegant way of implementing the new asset management system. The outliner for the .blend file shows all the data blocks. What if you could choose a datablock, right click, and "Export to New Blend File and Link"? The datablock would be replaced by a link to the new .blend.
* @Josephbburg * Yes, this is really a great idea. +1 on your idea, if possible
* @chicochetal * I think I'll make a RCS post about that! blender.community/c/rightclickselect/WTcbbc/
* @Josephbburg * Voted! Thanks for help and for improving this.
